No. Had you already appealed or were they notifying you b/c you had not appealed?
Interesting. Do you mind sharing your stats?
This email isnāt Kelley looking at an application and saying Wow excellent stats please submit so we can admit you. Itās our software shows you indicted business but did not submit a petition and when you call us in March to complain why you never heard - we are trying to mitigate that by reminding you to submit. People who indicate business but do not submit appeals because they do not know to submit are usually a poor yield. All Kelley sees at this point is you did not appeal but submitted business to the University and were admitted to IU.
good processāthanks Jeffā¦and glad IU does thisā¦
Should there be concern if a student received the email to submit a petition in January and he already submitted the petition in October? There is a sentence that says to disregard if you already sent petition, so our first instinct was not to be concerned. Since this is my sons top choice, he wants to make certain all ducks are in a row without emailing the Business School to inquire if not needed. Thanks!!
Oh I know. I was just curious to see if anyone else received it. The only email that even matters are the likely letters.
Is there a way to confirm that the petition was received?
You should have received an email confirming the petition was submitted.
We signed up for Admitted Student tour at IU in mid March, we havenāt heard from Kelley yet but were able to sign up for admitted Kelley program same day too. Unsure if bad form, but will back out of it if he doesnāt get in. Just sharingā¦
Didnāt realize you could sign up if not a DA
We went onto the calendar and chose it; allowed us to do it. He did get an email about a red carpet luncheon that wasnāt for us, but nothing saying he couldnāt attend the Kelley DA session. I donāt know, but we did it.
I just want to assure folks waiting for Kelley admission⦠IF you donāt attend a DA day this springā¦do not freak out. It is a very nice event. It does host some nice info sessions. However, do not lose your minds or spend thousands of dollars last minute booking a visit you are shoe-horning into the end of a what is likely a VERY busy senior year. If it works out - fantastic. If you attend a more general campus visit a different weekend - cool. If you end up waiting until NSO this summer (orientation/registrations) and spend a beautiful couple of days in the summer - which you have to attend anyway ā lovely. Keep your eye on the ball - do not submit to excessive FOMO. Enjoy Spring Break. Enjoy prom. I wish you all the best on admission hopes. Kelley is a great choice ⦠but many final admissions come later in the game because so many competitive universities are all dragging out the process. So students havenāt finalized commitments until late in the game. Vicious circle.
Truth
Thanks for this. Question on NSO, when are these usually? Should we expect a separate trip for that or is it combined with move in?
These are usually June/July - definitely a separate trip.
NSO (New Student Orientation) dates are available through the summer. You select a two day window to attend in person. Student typically meets with an advisor & registers for Fall Classes. Thereās also tours & info sessions. I do believe it is possible to request not attending this in person/doing it remote. Especially for those a long distance - OOS or OOCountry. If this trip concerns you related to time or money ā certainly communicate your needs.
DA days usually Feb/March.
Red Carpet Days Feb-April
NSO June-July (usually you can register at NSO so advantages sometimes to doing it early)
Move in - August 5-11th ish?
I definitely want her to attend in person, she wonāt know anyone on campus so hoping to make some friends. Our June/July is full with other stuff but will move something around. Thanks!
Looks like classes start Aug 26, so Iām guessing move in around the 19-21?
I know we took my daughter second half of July. She was on one or two waitlist for her classes - which both worked out. My daughter took Finite Math online through Ivy Tech (Indiana Community College). It was a Kelley required class that was transferable from Ivy. She did it just to get it out of the way. She is a pretty good math student - and found the online class super manageable over the summer. While the grade does not transfer (only the credit) - she got the A. Some folks believe you are better off taking that class at IUā¦but she wanted scheduling freedom and had the summer bandwidth to fit it in. NOTE: For us OOS students - it was still an extra cost to take the IVY class.
