IU Kelley Petition Tracker 2024

DS just got admitted to IU, pre-business. His GPA is just below the 3.8 Kelley DA threshold but SAT is way above the requirement (1500+). He was waiting to be admitted before spending the time to petition. Question - Does Kelley ever admit a student in this situation without a petition?

Never. He should get the petition in ASAP, the due date is Feb 1 and timing is a sign of demonstrated interest.

Agree - the application will not go to Kelley unless you are DA or petition.

My daughter made the decision today to not pursue Kelley. She applied EA with DA stats and has heard nothing
Kelley is a good program and we wish the best to all.

You know the decision date is in 5 days, right? Your daughter applied 2+ months ago. Why bail out with 5 days left? Did she actually withdraw her application?

I asked her today to check her status for Kelley and her response was she is no longer interested. A 17 year old

She has been accepted into a big 10 and private school business program. I believe they are comparable programs and with the merit she received its her choice.
All the best

Please do actually withdraw - it holds a spot from a petition. Best of luck!

Agreed. Best to all.

I don’t have access to any of her accounts but I ask her to withdraw.

Thank you!

Does anyone know what is the average time to get the appeal granted? Does it change differently for different stats? My son has both GPA and SAT scores for DA, but he did a summer course past summer that was sent as a separate school grade that did not qualify him for DA. As someone suggested earlier maybe we will book a cancellable room for DA day. Thanks

There is no average time - what you should be doing IMO is calling Kelley AO and explaining the grade issue in the software and as a side note can you withdraw the grade from the transcript and be auto-DA. One issue for future applicants that should be better addressed is the software challenge with multiple high schools or grades.

As for Kelley generally and maybe this is helpful for people reading or not - Kelley reviews are like any other college admission. You’ll be assigned a random order and the AOs will review the petitions in that order as assigned. Kelley may sort that order with certain inputs - GPA over a certain amount, TO, women applicants whatever or maybe they won’t. I do not expect it to be “rolling” as that term has been pointed out to mean traditionally means but rather the plan is to be “periodically” released. You will read petition as soon as possible - this is no longer true. Petition by 2/1. I don’t see a reason to wait - but it’s not first come first served and maybe Kelley didn’t make this clear I don’t know - they made it clear to us.

For your purposes -no human will see your grade/software issue unless you ask them to do so. By review to be sure - but also you should be calling Kelley admissions - not IU admissions.

Thanks for your detailed comment. My son’s school councilor sent GPA reports to IU and we did not even know they will be sending in the summer grade and it will got out as a different High school transcript. I will ask my son to see if there is an option to withdraw the grade from the transcript. It makes sense to call Kelley AO not IU. I will try and find contact information or check with my son to see if he has that detail available. I will update with the details later in here.

I submitted a review request in mid December, thinking that they took UW gpa only for the 3.8/4.0, found out I actually qualified for DA and got in yesterday with W gpa, do I need to withdraw the request or should I just do nothing?

id do nothing. youre admitted to kelley

Jefrobertson ~ those DA dates were Fri/Sat. Is that correct?

Were you TO or you submitted scores?

Are kids getting deferred?? On an IU site, they are getting deferred?!

Yes, there have been deferrals.

Just curious, did anyone else get an email from Kelley being “Personally invited to appeal for direct admit” about a week or two ago?
