You mean March 15th and not April 15th right ? In a previous comment you had mentioned that beyond March 15th there will not be any movement on the Kelley petitions
The question was do we believe with DA days coming up there will be more Kelley petitions answered? There is nothing upcoming specifically that will drive petition results other than their hard deadline of April 15.
The initial plan was to have a decent batch release somewhere between March 4-11. That batch will be roughly 40% wait list, 40% rejection and about 15-20% admission. It is a quandary for Kelley whether to just make everyone wait until Apr 15 or notify with a wait list earlier. The yield for IU when someone is wait listed (so youāre saying thereās a chance?) is higher than telling them nothing.
Kelley is looking at Red Carpet Days not DA days if there is any push for admissions and thatās IU wanting this not Kelley because the vast majority of petitions will not be accepted. If Kelley waits until April 15 there are only 3 RCDs left all within a week or so. March 8 - like 10 RCD options.
DA days are the big deal for Kelley admissions. They have their special invite lunches, they see what number attends and that gives them a real strong template for how many #s will be going to IU. Depending on how many attend this one Saturday and are registered for March 2 maybe there will be more petitions next week, itās possible.
Many families intentionally attend RCD instead of DA days and this isnāt reflective at all which you should do. People admitted to Kelley who do not attend DA days do not yield high for Kelley as a general rule and that tells Kelley how many spots are open.
Kelley is reporting 42% women now 2 years after being 32%. Not good enough, but as we read about the focus on women admitted petitions, that kind of increase at Kelley would have required a roughly 64-36% women vs men attendance rate for the last two classes and most likely to get there an even higher acceptance rate closer to 70-30. Will be interesting to see if that 42% which puts IU near most of the Big10 schools will even back out on admits or whether attempts will continue to get closer to 50% requiring similar ratios this class and the 2029s.
Kelley is now 42% women for the entire school? Or 42% of last yearās entering class was female?
I believe heās saying Kelley overall is now 42% female and it took 2 years of heavily focusing on admitting females at a much higher ratio than previous years to increase it from 32% overall to 42% overall.
Thanks for the info on what you believe will happen next. Curious if you have any idea regarding approximate % of the waitlisted applicants that eventually get admitted.
It changes every year depending on the number of auto-admits - as tests are coming back in vogue that will probably be a bit higher this year. The timing is mostly due to Ivy Day, UCs and Ross that drive the auto DAs somewhere other than Kelley - thatās around 4/1 so Kelley tends to offer from WL a week or two after that as those students tell Kelley thanks but no thanks.
I hope everyone going to Kelley DA days posts a bit of a review, Iām sure others will be interested in the experience and knowledge shared.
My son would like to send an update to the Kelley appeals committee as he crushed it first semester. His performance was truly incredible/close to perfect. Will they review/consider his letter/update or no? He has a few other EC related updates in his field of study (finance), one for a global competition heās been competing in and another about an internship heās secured at a Hedge Fund.
I emailed them and they said they do not take senior year grades into account.
Senior grades, new events: Many of the petitions if not most have already been scored. You could email something generally to Kelley admission, I would not. Theyāll ask if they want them. Otherwise you risk maybe damaging the petition not helping it. But to each their own.
Sorry to ask the question again, I am not able to understand this quote. Does it mean as long as auto admit stats are good, Will Kelley approve the appeals on all applications that are submitted in EA? We are still waiting to hear back from Kelley petetion. Thanks
I donāt know your particular issue and it does not matter. If you submitted general app by EA deadline AND petitioned by 2/1 AND have auto admit stats other than whatever the issue is then you should be admitted.
If the above is true and if you have not been admitted as of now, then either Kelley does not agree with you that you are auto admit OR they have not yet seen it (which is slightly surprising).
You should contact Kelley Admissions. I believe others with two transcript issues (assuming thatās the problem) have been admitted but that does not mean everyone with that issue has been admitted. Kelley has to see the issue to rectify the issue. Kelley will answer - āweāll tell you by Apr 15ā if you do not make your issue clear.
Thank you. I will ask my son to call Kelley Admissions to look into the issue. Last time we called they did say by Apr 15th we will hear. I assume my son did not explain clearly what was the reason. Can we talk whoever attends the call or should we ask for my son regional Admissions office?
Have others heard back from Kelley about their petition as yet? My S24 has the GPA and SAT stats as expected, but has attended 2 high schools and so needed to put in the petition. We have not heard back as yet, though he submitted his review request on 30-Nov.
My son is in same situation. I read somewhere possibly in this post that Girls are getting their appeal request approved more than Buys to increase their percentage. Not sure how true it is.
My son has DA stats, but both two high schools and no GPA printed on the transcript. He submitted his petition in September. He has phoned once and emailed once. Both times he was told he would have an answer by April 14. Would you advise that he try to reach out again or just wait patiently?
We are just waiting patiently :). I guess knowing others are in the same situation too, helps to know.
So glad to hear that it isnāt just us waiting. Thanks for chiming in.
Received denial from Kelley today.
32 ACT
3.6 UW GPA w/ high rigor curriculum
Lots of EC.
Heard from family friend in Chicago who knows professor that IU has 26K applicants and room for 2400 in the incoming class. Good luck to others and congrats to those that got accepted as youāve earned it.
That stinks, Iām sorry to see that occur. Judging by DA day attendance and the usual yield from that event, there are roughly 500 petition spots available overall. 26k apps would be unusually way high historically. But if so - going to be around a 10% admit rate on petitions. And a reason to deny earlier to sell you on all that IU has to offer non Kelley.
