IU Kelley Petition Tracker 2024

Didn’t someone report a while ago that Kelley had something like 28,000 applications? And 6,000 or so petitions?

rejected. not offered waitlist. Will likely head to Ohio State Fisher, as a direct admit.

Waitlisted- until May 10th.

OOS
UW 3.85/ W 4/1
Test optional due to slightly below min GPA for DA
EC’s: president of finance club, job shadow at wealth strategies firm, BPA membership, NHS, captain of team.
Accepted and rec’d DA to every other school on the list.
So, moving on!!! Happy for closure.
*Highly UN-recommend petition process to future applicants. The stats they previously shared at IU info sessions claimed that the petition process is worth the effort and 60% of petitions were accepted. Wildly inaccurate. This was removed from their website and has been mentioned previously by others in this thread.

Yeah, confirmed he was waitlisted.

I gotta say I didn’t love his essay for the petition. But again, we thought it was pro forma because he had the stats.

Oh well, as I mentioned. His first choice was Vanderbilt and he got in last week, so this probably means that’s where he’ll be.

Waitlisted with a 4.33 - test optional (CA). Off to Cal Poly and in state tuition. Peace out!

Vanderbilt is way better than kelley!

Vanderbilt is nice. Not ranked top ten for business and wayyyyy more expensive. Not really a comparison unless you just want a fancy name and not a great bus school

Kelley doesn’t read essays from what I heard

Well that’s just weird then. They should say two HS is disqualifying.

got rejected this morning. submitted a petition because my school doesn’t calculate GPAs. I had a 1490 SAT and had almost all As and A*s (I took Cambridge A levels). Did a marketing internship for 2 summers, volunteered at an organization that helped underprivileged children in schools for 4 years (got an LOR from there too), was a part of many different clubs, founded my own club, played varsity volleyball for 4 years, volunteered at a non-profit, started a business, headed the organization of multple MUNs in my school and was in a business competition with 94 other countries.
anyways im gonna commit to gies at uiuc!

Thats because they dont really have a B school but when you look at how they place in high finance, they have way better outcomes thab Kelley. A major reason kelley is ranked high is because of their workshop programs, but those are not guaranteed to all students. Kelley prepares students well though!

Thx.

Kelley is awesome. I’m a Hoosier and love Bloomington. But S24 has heart set on Vandy and since he got in, that’s where he’s going.

And I don’t think he will be limiting his options with that choice.

Kelley failed in its 65% falsehood
Kelley failed in adding the exclusion of 2 high schools or gpa on transcript
Kelley failed in maybe using term “rolling”

Nobody needs to opine on someone’s college choice as worse. Every school you choose that is not Kelley is the best choice for you. Congratulations.

Jefro and others. I read there are 600 direct admits and over 1800 standard admits. Do you know what percent of the 1800 get admitted to Kelley after their first year? How big of a gamble is standard admit?

It doesn’t seem too bad as a SA from my pov and someone I know in the IBW, especially since finite math was removed. It just requires some time in the books which is required eitherway for a successful college career

DS waitlisted. Email sent last night. OOS. 1360 SAT, 3.8/4.2 GPA. Strong ECs, working history and rigorous curriculum. Agree with others that the now-removed info on Kelley website indicating a highly successful petition rate affected his approach. If we had known that petition process was so dicey he would have taken the SAT again. Likely will go in state to VT but Fisher DA still a consideration. OSU offered generous scholarship (as did IU) but probably not worth the additional cost and logistics. Good luck everyone. Lessons learned for sure.
