Ok
Thx. Really good to know. Appreciate your note! Hoping we get a successful result!
My daughter applied TO so was not eligible for DA to Kelley. Curious if the fact that she got a Deanâs scholarship of $8K/year to IU has any bearing on the likelihood of her petition to Kelley being accepted? Thanks all!
Deanâs $8k = No indication of likelihood.
Woman + pretty high GPA = bearing on likelihood
Thanks so much! 4.0 UW, 4.87 W, so hoping she gets in!
curious for a TO/OOS student (male) with solid GPA (3.9 UW/4.3 W) if good ECs (yr round sport, pt job, 400+ volunteer hours) and 10 APs/4 honors, AP scores all 4/5 so far carry any weight in Kelley petition? He was invited to apply for SSA if that matters at all?
Most everyone has âgoodâ ECs and admissions only has so much time to actually evaluate that - ECs are more important at private schools and for scholarships. Holistic review but probably not impactful.
AP scores - not at all
Rigor yes. Good GPA yes. SSA is mostly based on the grades/rigor so thatâs the same concept.
Male - hurts a little in current Kelley climate.
TO - theyâll generally try to estimate your probable test score for app scoring - Educated guessing that they app score your TO at around a 1320-1350 SAT.
Kelley and IU in general is pretty darn grades/rigor/test focused. They receive too many apps to be otherwise.
thank you so much for the insight.
There are 2 questions on the review request - how do you think these are these weighted in the decision? I agree that there is likely very little review of the Common App elements as they clearly say they donât review the Common App essay.
The prompts I believe are 250 words. Matters very little relatively - looking for unicorns or something not apparent from application. And unicorn is not always my most significant achievement is making the Olympics. Maybe itâs trying out for the school play having never acted or participated in the open mic night or sitting with someone new for lunch.
Most apps are scored 1-5 for an applicant, but almost everyone falls into the possible admittance scoring on the personal score (prompts, ECs) - so the variance on any one category of personal score is pretty small. Quantifying that, most applicants are a 4 in both Personal and Academic. Maybe you get a 0.5 bump being female or a underserved ethnic or racial category/first generational college student.
Kelley is definitely not spending the time in a huge evaluation over whether any student would be a successful business school student. Kelley is essentially a sub-college of IU, itâs looking to admit you to Kelley University and will do so the way any 8k student college would do. There will be a few exceptional personally and/or academically and a lot right in the middle of that bar graph where some of it is luck and some of it is finding unicorns.
Looking at last yearâs thread regarding petition requests:
End of Nov - some acceptance reported, primarily women applicants
End of Jan - acceptances / denials reported
End of Feb - acceptances / denials reported
Early March - denials / waitlist reported
April - acceptances from waitlist reported
Do you know how these come in? Is it thru portal? Or email to applicant?
Email comes from Kelley and Portal would update from Pre-Business to Business for Program. Portal likely updated ahead of the email. The email is from: BSCHOOL bschool@indiana.edu
Hello, I applied EA to IU Kelly on Nov 1, 2023 and sent my review revision out on November 22. I got into IU Pre-Business today and was wondering how long/ when will I hear back about whether my review revision got rejected or accepted.
This was based on last yearâs thread:
End of Nov - some acceptance reported, primarily women applicants
End of Jan - acceptances / denials reported
End of Feb - acceptances / denials reported

Hey everyone. Iâm a senior and applied to IU Bloomington 10/24. Submitted my petition/review request to Kelley on 12/30. Just got accepted to IUB today. I have a 3.84 W GPA and test-optional. Wrote one of my essays about an internship I had with a emerging vitamin/supplement company as a marketing major and the other on problems relating to financial exclusion of difeerent classes and how fintech can help solve this (talked about programs, professors, etc at Kelley that I can study to accomplish this).
What do you guys think are my chances of being admitted as a DA to Kelley? Also, does anyone have any idea of when I will hear back?
Pls let me know! Kelley is my dream school
As a marketing intern at my internship*
Applied Business Exploratory BSB to IU
When my daughter submitted her review request in early Nov., it stated she would hear by April 14
I heard that too! But April is pretty late and past the admitted students day so Iâm wondering if it comes out on a rolling basis.
With this next batch of admit the same questions will arise as prior:
When will I hear on review? Kelleyâs âplanâ the last I was told is to identify their probable yield as of 1/15 from the auto-DA admits. Then, similar to last year, there may be a small group of admits on targeted demographics to attend DA days. Whatever spots remain: The bulk of reviews are typically in early March. Kelley usually will not wait list many until that March date. Kelley tries to at least wait list students by early March not wait until April 14.
Scholarships/Aid? Most of the SSA invites if not all have occurred. GSA is a matching tool for all sorts of aid opportunity based on your inputs. There is a GPA/Test based aid Deanâs or Provost for OOS/IS.
Honors? Kelley honors is a sophomore thing. ACE is an accelerated program for a small group of students. Hutton is IU Honors and is pretty redundant with Kelley Honors and for a select few includes a relatively small scholarship.
Good luck, I urge everyone interested in Kelley to make a refundable hotel reservation for the March DA weekend and hope reviews are in by that date.
