IU Kelley Petition Tracker 2025

To Whomsoever It May Concern.

At least a few of them apply to me as well. Ha!

But something to be conscious about as we read postings here.

• “Appeal to false authority” – When someone uses their (sometimes unverifiable) credentials to shut down debate rather than provide real expertise.

• “Intellectual grandstanding” – Making a show of one’s knowledge or qualifications to seem superior.

• “Anon-cred flexing” – Bragging about credentials in an anonymous setting where they can’t be verified.

• “Keyboard professor” – A mocking term for someone who acts like an academic expert online without proving their credibility.

• “Clout-chasing intellectual” – Someone who flaunts their credentials primarily for status rather than meaningful discussion.

Signed up last week as well but did not get a link.

We did not receive a link either.

Link to the Pre-Business meeting came through around 3 pm. My son said they received about 5,000 petitions for DA this year. Not much of an update on that, except that they will continue to share acceptances (via email) until mid-April and all petitioners will get a response.

There’s a P&Q article from April 2024 quoting IU Kelley undergrad business receiving 27,000 applications last year stating up from 17-18k the year before. I heard decent sourcing that last year total was 18k. I have no idea what numbers are correct from IU. Is it possible to receive 22,000 auto apps and only 5k petitions?

Well, a chunk of the total app number are auto-admits and they don’t need to petition. After my son got the IU admit in January, Kelley did not email him to remind or encourage or explain that he needed to petition to get DA, so you had to know on your own that the petition was something you had to do. From the comments on the webinar, many people missed the deadline to petition or didn’t know it was an option.

Another thing to consider is they may have been stingier with pre-business admits given the increase in apps overall. I don’t know what’s possible or likely, but Kelley posted in the webinar Q&A that there were close to 5,000 petitions.

Are there any Red Carpet or Admitted Student Days after we find out about the petition? I have slim hopes for my student (has the GPA but not quite 1370).

If he was successful, I would want to go see IU but wont these events be done?

There are multiple dates throughout March and April for Red Carpet Days, depending on when you might hear from Kelley. There are also just regular visits available for interested students, they do have breakout sessions for Kelley info. Check website for ‘Academic Area Visits’

At an accepted student webinar last night, Kelley posted in the Q&A that they will accept about 30% of the review requests.

Thanks for this update. Was this an accepted-to Kelley DA webinar or an IU admit-pre-business webinar? did you get an invite for this?

It was called an IU Virtual Admitted Student Event (so open to all admitted IU students). S25 got an invite in mid-February. There were a few general sessions (about campus life, housing, etc.) and for the last session they split students off into their schools. The Kelley session had both DA and pre-business students in it.

Thanks for sharing that info. Did they say anything else about timing for review decisions? Other than just the deadline of April 14? Hoping some more roll out soon!

Unfortunately no specific dates other than April 14.

Hello my son was accepted into Hutton Honors. He applied for the DA appeal Nov 1st, we are still waiting on an answer.

Is it just me or does it seem like only girls have been admitted DA so far? I haven’t seen one thread or heard of one guy admitted yet. Weird.

Any reason to believe they may release some admits off petitions today?

I wish. I know IU would move way up for my daughter if she got in Kelley. But don’t know if she’ll wait until Apr.

Thought to give update. My son is also waiting on appeal request. However, one of his friend heard back today is waitlisted but direct admit. It sounds interesting that my son who applied by Nov 1 still don’t know his status and someone who applied later in process by regular deadline came to know outcome. Their process seems to be really messed up.
