IU Kelley Petition Tracker 2025

What are your other DA offers if you don’t mind sharing? IU requirements are a far less than several of the schools you have mentioned. Curious what you are leaning towards if your DA review doesn’t get approved

That’s exactly right. There are a couple kids in DD’s class with an easy rigor, didnt get into any selective schools, but Auto DAed to Kelley; even though majority are still those who consider Kelley a safety school from an admissions perspective; more prevalent for OOS students, from non-mid-west states.

I have DA to Arizona State and Utah. 2 solid programs for business. I will probably be going to Utah if my DA doesn’t go through. Solid program and great job opportunities in SLC area.

Ok, I think I understand, this is helpful. IU I think is unique in the way this works, so its a bit convoluted to follow the decision tree.

He’d had another good DA visit today- this time at OSU/Fischer and we will also hit Purdue on this trip (cheaper and his brother is there) - so if IU does not want to DA him, he has a lot of other DA programs he is happy with at this point.

But we are still looking forward to the IU visit to see what I have been spending all this time tracking on college confidential :). I think I am probably the one driving the Norman Rockwell campus dream but we’ve come to the realization that it does not make sense to attend on a provisional status given other top 15 DA options. Thanks for everyone sharing their info and insight - I’m highly analytical and I am positive that I have spend 20x the time my kid has on considering his options so I appreciate the parents/advisors who also put in time talking me through it.

Please post updates after your IU visit. We visited 2 years ago when my son was in Year 10, so I am eager to hear more recent updates.
My son will continue to eagerly wait to hear from Kelley…Canadian schools send acceptances until mid-May, so waiting until April 14 shouldn’t be too tough!

Have a great visit. Kelley is a tough one to let go of. It’s a really great program and we were impressed by it. It’s been a long cycle and my daughter did get in off of the petition but she just committed elsewhere. The decision became very clear for her when she got into a scholars program at Wisconsin business school. Made it easier for her for sure. Before that we kept going back to Kelley. Indiana is a highly attractive choice with a lot to offer and the cost was more competitive than most for us out of state. I think I’d likely choose a DA choice somewhere else. But I also have a test optional kid without AP calc so the whole B- thing would have made me nervous for her. My junior could crush a similar curriculum with no concern. So that depends on the kid. I don’t envy people still deciding but eventually they will and it feels amazing!!

Just coming on to say that for Fall 2025 first years who plan to ultimately seek Kelley standard admission, they do not have to take calculus before they can apply for standard admission:

With that said, I do understand the stress/pressure/uncertainty that some students may experience if pursuing standard admission. The adjustment to college can be challenging both socially and academically. Through in pledging a frat or sorority and it can be a lot.

Campus is absolutely beautiful. Lots of green with old and historic buildings. Very walk-able. If you don’t get DA it’s a tough one to let go of. I really enjoyed it and hope for the best.

My understanding from recent Kelley alumni is that the Freshman business classes (for Kelley and pre business students- they all take the same ones) are very tough, and “weed out the students” classes. Per IU only 30-40% Standard admit students make it into Kelley. This is just fyi. Each student is of course different in their academic strength.

I’m wondering if anyone has been admitted to or rejected from Kelley through petition in the last week or two. It seems to be quiet…

It’s been quiet lately for petitions.

My son went to red carpet day today and they said April 14 is the final deadline, no admissions after that, not even after May 1. That does not exactly jive with what I have read on here but they were pretty clear and also clear that we were to ask no questions to AO officers at Kelley and they will tell you nothing, so I was unable to convey my vast college confidential knowledge to get final confirmation.

That makes them sound mean and foreboding but the IU campus is like some sort of elixir drug and my son loved it. It’s sort of like, “do you want to go to school for the next four years or go to a Hollywood sound stage of an ideal college campus and take some classes”?

Thanks for the update! My son hasn’t visited the school for an official tour (he visited with his team when he was in a lacrosse tournament nearby last year) but we would love to visit if he gets admitted to Kelley.

I don’t really know what no admission past May 1 means if they are going to answer all by April 14 but it could just be Kelley talking and not really understanding your question. They are only 2 years away from “rolling” petition review. They tried one year answering everyone in March and putting on a large waitlist and that was extremely unpopular. So they moved to answer later but then FAFSA delayed everything so it was June 1 as a decision date with school starting in 2 months. We’ll see what they do now, somehow they’ll look to fill between 250-500 “petition” spots and question is will they use a waitlist to do that or will they approve that many up front. You’ll know probably in a few days not Apr 14. Typically they’ll jump on those they want to admit earlier than Apr 14.

My son received an email from IU office of admissions today about exploring his options as an enrolled pre business student he accepted admissions to pre business to hold a spot, we still haven’t heard from Kelley about his review request. Does receiving this email mean he was not direct admitted to Kelley??

I can’t answer your question but I will say last year the Kelley review response email came from Kelley School of Business (not IU office of admissions). Fingers crossed you hear soon from Kelley!!

Did they just add this Math class as a pre-req? I thought when I looked last fall they had take Math (Finite Math) off the list and there was NO required math and now I just looked again and it showed this: Complete one of the following on the IU Bloomington campus^: MATH-M 119, MATH-B110, ECON-E 370 or STAT-S 301

New for Fall 2025. Note that a math class (IIRC Calculus) had been previously required for standard admission, but IU removed that requirement maybe two or three cycles ago.

Do you know if a 5 on AP Stats can be subbed in for that or do they make you retake it?

Not a pre-req for standard admit, but a degree requirement. If a student does take this class in the freshmen year then they’d need to have a B or higher.

That is for this year (current first years who entered Fall 2024.) Here are the requirements and link for students entering Fall 2025 (see math requirement, last bullet):
