I've decided to let it go

dc4lins, I don’t think this is at all about political correctness. It’s just that I had the same attitude as the aforementioned posters when I was 14. I read Nietzsche I was an atheist I knew everything. I considered religious people to be weak and in need of a crutch. Nothing could be further from the truth. I now WISH I was capable of having faith because it would’ve helped me to deal with a lot of the tragedy I’ve faced in the past two years. All I was trying to say is that, sure make your “snarky” comment, but to what use is it? Noone was impressing religous values on anyone else, and if the OP somehow miracuously found a way to get through to the anxt-ridden EDers on here, a bunch of arrogant pseudo-intellectuals don’t need to **** all over it.

dc4lins:

true, but it’s a stressful time and college decision is a very sensitive and personal issue. it would be nice for us to show some understanding and stick together till the 14th…

jennyanne - well said, times 2

and qwilde - get out of here with that ********.

i <3 jennyanne. i wish the penn adcoms read these things, if they saw how bad we wanted to get in tehy would accept all of us

i swear this forum is deep.

a group of budding intellectuals is what we have here.

:) this forum is making all of us re-think about why we are here and our life in general~~~ lol

deep huh…

I have no contention with the intended message; however, the OP was overly preachy. The OP could have stated “I realized at church today that if I’m not admitted my life will still continue and ultimately the college I attend will not determine the person I am”, but instead choose to prey on anxious ridden students.

and qwilde - get out of here with that ********.

Crouton are you afraid that God doesn’t exist or that my comments may hold some truth?

trust me. i wasn’t trying to be preachy…

i’m sorry if you took it that way… I just said that’s what I learned today…

I would never prey on you guys… what for?

whatever my destiny happens to be i will be happy with that. if that means rejection then so be it.

psuedo-intellectuals. haha - philosophy is such a personal choice.
yeah, i had TOK for IB and now, religious banter has no meaning for me anymore. ive come to realize thats its all about resilience. u cant exactly be satisfied with failure, but accept it if you cant change it. ultimately, it comes down to the pursuit of happiness, not happiness itself.
i, myself, needed something to trust in when things fell apart. i found a strength in me and i want to call that god. u can just call it character. what does it matter?
may god bless ya’ll anyway :)

jae6forever, I never implied that getting rejected from the college of your choice is failing life; way to read way too much into my statements. Failure in one thing does in no way create a failure of your entire life. Yes, we will all go on and attend another college if rejected, but to bring God and his “plan” into all of this just annoys me. I always get annoyed when people preach to me about God’s plan. I have free will, thank you.

no u dont, we live in the matrix. didnt anyone tell u?

Oh no you’ve shattered my entire belief system, Paro!!! I want to take the blue pill!!! (or was it the red pill…)

Get over yourself. The OP was not preaching to you. He was talking about his revelation in church, where he realized that it is out of his hands now, and to just let it go rather than obsessing over a decision, that at the end of the day, means nothing. Whereever we all go, we will be happy and succeed.

I hate atheists because they are not understanding and not tolerant of others beliefs. Most people in this country believe in God. Most believe that God has a plan for us all. I am not one of those who thinks God dictates every moment of our lives and that all good is His doing and all bad are His tests, but am respectful of other’s beliefs. Quaker beliefs Jyankee, quaker beliefs. That is what you applied ED for.

hey, at least jae6forever got our minds off of penn

lol venkater. quaker beliefs, yeahh.
i had a nietzche phase too, btw. then i had this odd john dunne phase. and now, im just kinda wondering where life will take me.
curious curious curious, thats all.

my views about religion (and i am religious…southern baptist)

God gave us the bible, which is a guide for our behavior. he has a plan for us, but we do have free will. we can decide how we want to live our lives and that means well either follow God’s plan or we wont. He hopes the bible will influence us to subscribe to his plan. Praying about things is also a way to change His plan, but its like an agreement between you and god.

wow i dont know why i did that i kinda just went with it.

“I hate atheists because they are not understanding and not tolerant of others beliefs.”

That is redundant and a fallacy.

Venkater atheists may not be accepting of other beliefs, but religious people aren’t accepting of atheism either. Just because the majority of people are religious doesn’t make that viewpoint any more valid or superior.
