J-Term sign up deadline missed by me-advice?

I have been toying with traveling abroad during the J-term in January. In order to travel, one has to go to a GIS (General Information Seminar with the Study Abroad office), then one can apply for the J-term (deadline was today to apply) and later one is notified about whether they have been chosen to register.
AnyHoo, I’ve been swamped with school work and such and never got to the initial GIS and therefore did not get to apply.
Is there anyway around the GIS, could I plead my case to someone to let me register for the J-term travel courses?
It would be nice to go, but if I can’t that’s ok. Then, I’ll probably just go visit some exciting city in the US on my own with some friends: Chicago, NYC, DC.
Still, if someone knows a way that I can get around missing today’s deadline to apply without having gone to the GIS, or do the GIS on-line? I’d greatly appreciate it.

My guess is that it’s probably too late. You might have been able to miss the orientation, but not the deadline. You could try going by and talking to them, but I don’t know how far you’ll get. What about Alternative Winter Break?
