Jackson Laboratory SSP 2019

Finished application the first week of February. Last name starts with a G. This was the Bar Harbor location.

Are you an undergrad or high schooler?

also does it matter when you sent your application in?

@helllpppp, probably doesn’t matter when it was sent in––I’m guessing the waves are being sent out alphabetically. This is also what they have done in previous years.

@HeinousKetchup, do you mind sharing your stats?

Oh ok well I guess i didn’t get in then :frowning:

I’m a high school senior.
Lots of science research experience (3 years of science fair). I’ve done a few projects related to DNA collection. Science Olympiad, various other science competitions.
AP: chem, bio, physics1, comp sci p, environmental sci
honors: math, anatomy
One of my teachers never submitted their recommendation, so I was freaking out.

@helllpppp, this is all speeculation––I really have no clue. Let’s hope for the best, and we’ll see what happens in the next month!

can someone post an acceptance/denial email, so we know what to expect

Have any high school juniors been accepted?

over the next several weeks they will continue seating the class

@HeinousKetchup congrats!

@HeinousKetchup did the email provide any more specifics about how many seats have been filled thus far?

From what I remember from last year, there were a few rolling acceptances through March (maybe as PIs picked? idk.), more acceptances in the last few days, and then pretty much all rejections came in the last day or two.

@Astraea1 last few days of March?

@Cholo19 yeah it was the last few business days in March that were busy

Got in recently as well. Pretty surprised since I thought they did interviews. Part of me doesn’t want to post here because I don’t want to cause anxiety / anticipation / analysis for others (I’m posting to be involved in a groupme if it exists (???). Not sure how jax feels about threads like this, so I want to be respectful as well).
Anyway, do not analyze this thread!!! Or acceptances and rejections. One thing I learned from being in a place that is selective is that it’s really anyone’s game and you shouldn’t analyze.
If you are feeling this way, I know what it’s like: if you applied to this program, odds are you are a high achiever with big dreams. I have applied to the program before and didn’t get in, but I am also a very different person than when I first applied.
I will not be giving out personal info, but as someone who knows what it’s like, I wanted to make a comment that is sensitive to how people are feeling.

do they pick a certain number of juniors and a certain number of seniors or do they just choose out of all high schoolers?

does anyone know how many juniors have gotten accepted already?

HS senior and I was accepted earlier today!
