Make sure you book your hotels now for anything you want to attend. Choices as well as move-in.
Hotel Madison has a loyalty program with discounts. Move-in will be either the 16th or 17th of August. They get to decide.

It was on the deferral letter. 27,000 is the 2023-2024 number.

For anyone whose child heads off to JMU, I highly recommend looking into the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad.
My son joined just as the Covid lockdown started. It was/is, hands down, the best choice he made while at JMU. Even though he graduated from JMU, but he still heads back one weekend each month to volunteer for a 48 hour shift.
Every new student wants to find their people when they get to campus. The fully volunteer rescue squad(200 people strong) is a great group to join. Itâs like a family.

Yes, it is really weird, JMU is the 4th acceptance my son has received and is the first one that did not specifically reference his chosen major or the school he was accpted into. He applied as a computer science/engineering major so I would assume that he got into the College of Integrated Science & Engineering. When he got his acceptance from VA Tech back in December, it spcifically referenced that he was accepted into the College of Engineering.
well, they accepted 5 students from our OOS high school so there is thatâŠ!!!

Hi just a quick fyi if youâre waiting to hear from the school of music I emailed them asking when the decisions would come out. The responded with:
It takes a few days for us to manually enter the music audition decisions into the university system. They should be ready to view in MyMadison early next week!

Unlike VT, JMU doesnât accept by major(except for nursing, and perhaps a few others).
Students declare their major while working through the JMU One Book onboarding process.

How large if you high school class? tht also impacts the number of students they would accpet in the EA process
I know my daughter was like what no banners or music for confeti?? She thought it wasnât impressive and she is bummed.

JMU does not have direct admit nursing. Potential nurses have to apply to the nursing program later.

This page was shared with me last year and should help new Dukes and parents understand whether their major is a direct admit, a competitive major they must apply for later on due to program size limits (like nursing), or a major that requires a minimum GPA in certain prerequisite classes before you can officially declare it.

Our sophomore OOS Duke was deferred in EA in 2022. We fully anticipated our next potential Duke being deferred too, which happened today. Heâs still on the fence about where he wants to go, but for anyone who knows JMU is the âoneâ read onâŠ
For our current Duke, once she was deferred, she got in touch with her rep, asked what was important, he said it was the mid term grades. She sent them informally with a note that the official transcript would be sent by the school and she kept in touch every couple of weeks to remind him that it was her number one choice (which was true!). She was accepted in the regular decision round and has found her home away from home at JMU. Not the right place for everyone, but so glad that she shot her shot and ended up in her happy place. All this to say, even if you/your kiddo got disappointing news today, there is still an excellent chance that things will work out

Admitted! OOS. Waiting on Honors before we get too excited but we did sign up for ChoicesâŠshould we travel the night before or the night afterâŠcan only miss one day of baseball season or the coach will lose it.
