Japanese Words

Does anyone know Japanese? I’m doing an oral presentation on Japanese fashion and would REALLY APPRECIATE it if someone could give me the correct phonetic pronunciation of the following Japanese words:

yukata

furisode

uchikake

tomesode

nagajuban

obi

geta

Thank you guys so much!

It’s difficult to explain how the exact pronunciations go in terms of emphasis, but as for pronunciation itself:

‘e’ sounds are like the ‘e’ in ‘bed’
‘i’ sounds are like the ‘ee’ in ‘meet’
‘a’ sounds are like the ‘a’ in ‘father’
‘u’ sounds are like the ‘u’ in ‘flute’
‘o’ sounds are like the ‘oa’ in ‘moat’

Otherwise, since you don’t have any 'r’s, the sounds for consonants are the same as they are in English. In terms of emphasis, here’s how I’d pronounce them:

yuKAta
uchiKAke
Obi
GEta
FUriSOde
TOmeSOde

And I have no idea what nagajuban is, so I’ll leave that alone.

Thank you so much, Phuriku! You really helped me out.

actually, yukata (the summer wear) is pronounced YUkata. Yokatta (the past tense of yoi/ii–“good”) is yoKATta.

the “f” sound in japanese is a mix of the english “f” and “h” sounds.

furisode is pronounced as fuRIsode
uchiKAke
toMEsode (the o sound between s and d is short.)
obi is pronounced something like “OHbi”
