My son is 6’1" but only 145#. The Levis 511’s work for him. They are a skinny fit jean, but on him they fit very well w/o being tight. They also make a 514 which is a little looser on the leg, but they are pretty baggy on him. They might work for your son if he wants a looser fit.

I am glad I found and read this thread! My 14 yo son is 6 ft and 115 to 120 lbs. I expect him to grow taller. And to hopefully gain a little weight!

He has taken to wearing sweats because we couldn’t find pants long enough with a small enough waist, even with a belt they would fall off.

American Eagle and Land’s End are places we haven’t tried yet. so will put those on our list. We have tried Kohl’s without much luck. I keep trying to get him to gain an inch or two in the waist but it hasn’t worked too well yet.

My son has worked very hard to put some weight on w/o much luck. Dr. recently told him that he is not done growing ( S had full body x-rays for a medical condition, so Dr. could tell) and that he will have a hard time gaining muscle mass until he finishes growing. It is frustrating for them, but they will be thankful when they are older and everyone else in putting on extra unwanted pounds while they remain tall and thin!

I haven’t read the whole thread, so sorry if I’m repeating. Lucky Brand has jeans in a 28 waist and lengths as long as 34.5. I have a tall, extra skinny son and these work for him.

When H graduated college & even in his 40s, was a 28 inch waist. He’s found that since his waist size has finally reached 30, he has a MUCH easier time finding things off the rack that fits. It sure took a while though.

If anyone plans to travel to Thailand or similar, they do have tailors who can custom make whatever you want at a reasonable cost, which choice of fabric, styles, etc.

H had slacks and dress shirts made for him some decades ago. S was planning to do so as well when he was there on vacation but pleasantly surprised he was able to find clothes off the rack that fit him!

My son is 5’10", 130 pounds and has 33 inseam (long legs). He looks great in GAP 1969 Jeans. You can purchase almost any size online at GAP and return to the store if they aren’t right. My son wears a 29/34 in these jeans. Try a pair.

Wow… I was worried I wouldn’t get any advice on this.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We have tried some of these, like Gap 1969s, but the 28 32s he has are hanging off him. I’m not sure they make 27s. We have had some luck with Levis, and so far none with American Eagle, but I ordered multiple sizes for Christmas. I will report back if I find any that work really well.

As a very last resort–and this will work better if you buy the jeans for him to try on at home–shop the women’s section. A lot of guys who like slim (or super-skinny) jeans do this. If you choose a brand like Levi’s with a lot of androgynous styles you might have success.

Another vote for American Eagle here. DS loves their slim fit and they usually have his 30/36 in stock. He’s 6’2" and 145lbs. It’s even harder to find the slim fit shirts he likes that still fit his torso and arms. He insists on a size small for everything and I have to bite my tongue every time he buys a coat or shirt and it looks like he shrank everything in the dryer. Thankfully his girlfriend has taken my place at the mall - he actually listens to her advice!

I think lots of young men are skinny. My 16 year old is 6’, 135 lb. He can wear a 32 inseam if he wears them low and skinny jeans look normal on him. We usually go with a 30 inch waist and he wears them low with a belt. I have a friend who owns a boutique that caters to young men so she carries lots of things with slim cuts and smaller waists (not usually below 30 though. The downside is she charges a lot for jeans.

Since he is in high school and can only wear jeans on the weekend he can get by with just 2 pairs. When he goes to college I am definitely going to try some of the more reasonably priced jeans in this thread!

I totally forgot about this. I have a dear friends son who is tall and slim (is actually an American Idol alum) who used to buy many of his jeans in the Gap women’s dept. Go figure. You have to pretty darn secure in yourself, which he is, but they fit awesome, and his female fans seem to think they look pretty darn good on him. Most of his things are either custom or designer now, but every time I see him he’s wearing those Gap’s. Having said this, I don’t know if there’s any way I could convince my S2 to try on a pair of women’s jeans in the name of ‘best fit’, and he’s the most fashion forward of my three.

I went to the Lucky store in the mall today, and their 28 32s look like they may work. I have Americn Eagle and Gap Jeans also, but I’m not giving him any of them until Christmas. The Lucky store actually had 40% of some sale things today, so I was able to get jeans that sell for about $100 for 40 each. I got 3 pairs, just in case they fit. I think I have a stock of about $700 in pants of him to try on.

OK, I took DS to American Eagle today. They only had 29x32 and every style was too big in the waist.

So I reiterate that if you are not finding slim enough jeans check this site out–this link includes 27x32 and 28x36 and these wranglers are really slim fit–they fit the thin guys. I haven’t found another jean that fits DS. He loves his wranglers! Prices are decent. Check out other styles, too! ($36.99 for this specific pair).

Levi’s 511 are great for slim guys. Don’t be turned off by the label of skinny fit. For slim guys, they fit more like slim straight rather then skinny.

For a number of years our son was in this demographic. We found a surprisingly affordable (essential for us) solution with a company called “Make Your Own Jeans” (you can find them via Google), in India. You’re given very detailed instructions on how to measure, then can choose from a nearly infinite variety of styles and fabrics, with whatever tweaks to the design you want to make. The result was beautifully made, incredibly well-fitting jeans for a price we could afford – and turnaround time was quite short. They also make suits, jackets, shirts, and other kinds of clothing. I highly recommend them.

After being so happy to have found a single pair of 28 x 32 levi’s the other day, I find out that S needs a 34 now.

I have just skimmed this thread and haven’t seen this mentioned in what I read. Has anyone tried Myfit? Our local mall has the scanning machine that scans your body and then gives you a printout of size and style that is best for you. Maybe some of these guys that hate to try on clothes (being at the opposite end of the body fat scale, I understand) wouldn’t mind the high-techiness of virtual shopping.

Wow, so many tall, lean young men. My son will wear Levi’s 510 and 514 jeans, as they consistently have lean sizes available online and they look pretty good on him. Before he left for college he and I picked out 6 pairs online, and he liked 4 of them once they arrived and he tried them on at home. That was our best ratio of order/keep ever, and I cannot get him to commit to going to a store for the 2-4 hours it would take to search down his size, so it is a pretty good deal overall.

For khaki’s and dress pants Banana Republic does the trick, but now I know to try J Crew, too.

No freshman 15 on him yet … Hopefully he will work on that over break.

Macy’s has their one day sale today (at least in my area, I’m assuming it is a national sale)? The prices are incredible. I’m really busy but we might have to make time for this.

Op, my neighbors sons are very tall skinny teenagers. She told me today she buys levis 511 skinny jeans for them because they fit her boys regularly. Have you looked into them?
