Jeans that fit, NOT rockin the mom jeans!

Hi everyone! I am at my wits end, so I decided to turn to the experts on CC. I desperately need new jeans, but can’t find any that fit. I’m a size 16 or 18 and more apple than pear. My legs are relatively slim, so most jeans that fit my waist are WAY too big in the leg. Also, I’ve noticed that jeans that fit my waist have a lot of excess material in the pelvic area. Lastly, I prefer low rise (jeans that sit at or just below my belly button). Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Try The Buckle

They’re decently expensive (80$+) – but their jeans fit great and go up to a Size 24 (38") waist in some styles. My mom sounds like she’s built like you – and after going there for jeans for my sister and I, she ended up buying two pairs.

If you’re looking for a less expensive route try Alloy.com — they go up to a size 25 and a 37" inseam (which is how I found them, I wear a 36" inseam). Their jeans are cheaper and made out of quality material – but they’re juniors sizes, so make sure you check out the size chart. (I normally wear a size 8, but wear a size 10 in their jeans).

If you’re looking for jeans specifically for someone who is curvy – check out Torrid.com, my best friend is a size 16 and swears by them.

Hope that helps.

Have you tried Not Your Daughter’s Jeans? Nordstrom sells them…I really like them.

^^ I agree with Not Your Daughter’s Jeans. I’m a size 10, with slim legs, and I could go with a size 8 in NYDJ since the waist is generous. However, the waist sits at the natural waist, so if you like your jeans low-slung, they may not be for you.

If you’re a size 16-18, apple-shaped, I would think jeans that actually sit on your waist (as opposed to low-slung) would be much more flattering.

OK, I have a jeans observation/comment/question. These days when jeans are lower cut, even the ones that aren’t extremely low cut are still much lower than the old “mom” jeans.
And there is also a proliferation of the muffin top problem, right? If one were to wear jeans that were much higher cut that would reduce the muffin problem. But I doubt you could even find a pair of jeans that were very high cut anymore and even if you did the ridicule would be huge. So my question is, if higher cut jeans reduce the mid bulge why don’t we wear them? AND since 90% of the time we do not tuck our shirts in how would
anyone know how high or low cut our jeans were? Does this make sense? Am I missing something?

You’re not missing anything, srw. Unfortunately, people mistake jeans that sit at the waist with “high-waisted” jeans, which have that negative 70s connotation. Jeans that sit at the waist sit at the waist, not on your rib cage.

Muffin-top looks absolutely hideous, IMHO. And most people who wear low-rise jeans have muffin-top. UGH.

Try Seven jeans.

Might also look for Jeans Star jeans. I have found them at TJ Maxx and find that they fit me well. I have very little in the hip region and not much of a butt., but they hug me the right way without excess bagginess in those area. Not sure if they go up to size 16 or 18, but it’s worth a look see. Also picked up some “Not My Daughters Jeans” capris this summer at Loehmanns…really like that fit, so I’d check them out as well!

I don’t know about their sizes, but I am built straight up and down, so large waist/small hips and have had luck with Gap Curvy (which was completely non-instinctive as I thought curvy meant small waste, curvy hips, apparently now) and Kut from the Kloth

Umm, if you’ve got the bulge that is muffin top, then with higher jeans, doesn’t it simply show up as higher waisted jeans apron belly bulge? Or are ya’ll talking about muffin top where it is merely soft love handles, not really overweight?

I cannot stand jeans at the waist as I have no waist, so when the jeans get smaller I don’t, whereas lower cut jeans don’t pinch in at the waist

dkitty, I have the same kind of figure that you do, although in a smaller size nowadays. Regular-waisted pants and jeans that fit my waist are like clown pants around my hips and thighs. I can gather handfuls of fabric. The jeans that are ostensibly made “to fit women’s curves” are the absolute worst offenders. This kept me out of jeans for a long time.

Recently, I purchased a pair of low rise skinny jeans at Banana Republic that fit like a dream. Not too tight, not too loose. These are not extremely low–not the kind of thing that barely clears the pubic area! Just below the natural waist. I’m in a size 12 at Banana Republic, and I think this was their second-to-largest size (31), so you may have to go to another purveyor with a larger size range. But I would STRONGLY suggest that you check out this style: I think it is your best bet in regular jeans.

If that doesn’t work out, the plus-sized store Catherines has in the past had some jeans with a little stretch in them that might fit.

BTW, for those old enough to remember the early-to-mid 70s, there used to be a great brand of jeans called Landlubbers. They were “hip huggers”–very similar to the low, but not super low, jeans now. And until my recent BR purchase, they were the best fit in jeans I ever had. :)

^ I had to laugh! I remember my niece wearing jeans soooo low in hs I finally asked her if she had to wax before she wore them. I got a nice glare. Luckily she grew out of that phase. She now wears them on her hips and no lower.

Well, I certainly don’t want a muffin top, but I don’t want Erckle jeans either! I did hear good things about the “Not your daughter’s jeans” I love jeans as my weekend wear, but since I’ve gained weight it’s sooo hard…

Am I the only one who finds “Not your daughter’s jeans” uncomfortable. I would say I am similar to Somemom where I have no waist.

Banana Republic?? I like their fit on me.

What does that mean “I have no waist”? Does that mean you’re apple-shaped? Does that mean you’re so thin you have no curves?

I’m trying to envision. Maybe I shouldn’t? ;)

I have three pairs of jeans I love. One pair is from Ann Taylor loft and they are great. The others are Bandolinoblu and I have two pairs, one from Macy’s and the other TJMaxx.

I have no idea if they make either in a size 18. They are below the natural waist but not excessively low.

Check Svoboda jeans. My sister loves them.

[Premium Denim | Lee Lee’s Valise](http://www.leeleesvalise.com/online-boutique/premium-denim/)

One of my girlfriends recently had a jean intervention" with me. I ended up buying Shape FX. They had been featured on Oprah and I really like them.

No waist is not apple, I am not overweight and not skinny, just average (Hey, I could lose 10#, but look fine) but my hips are boyishly straight and my waist simply does not go in. Straight on I go straight up. If I gained 20# I would still be mainly straight and gain it all over, so not that lollypop shape with super skinny legs and round middle, but still because a small waistline is desirable, I am always self-conscious regarding my lack of waistline, but more annoying is finding something that fits & looks good & is comfortable, too.

Pants made for girls with hour glass figures are loose in the hips & butt and still to tight in the waist.

Pants that hit below the waist don’t have that same indentation where one’s waistline is supposed to be.
