Jefferson interview advice

Anyone have advice for the regional interview? How to make yourself stand out, what they’re looking for etc.?

Don’t BS. That’s my best advice. these are very, very smart, well read people doing the interviews. Do not talk about something if you only have a cursory knowledge because the follow up questions will kill you. You are better off saying, “I’m not familiar with whatever…” than faking it.

what kind of questions do they ask? are they related to your app?

Well, yes, they are related to your app…but also tangential. Mine started with some project I did on my app but then went off into philosophy and American Colonial history. It was a great talk and I was surprisingly relaxed, probably because the interviewers were all so friendly. So let’s say you have done some scientific research…they might start by asking you about that and then might go off on a tangent about science and politics or something.

bumppp anything else?

review your application carefully so that you can refresh your memory about everything you wrote.

yeah thats gonna be awkward b/c i decided not to apply to engineering. oh well at least i can spend time explaining that and not being drilled about “news topics with which you will be familiar” that i prob wont be.
