In the Ezra Klein podcast linked upstream, one of the things the guest said (and I am totally paraphrasing) even though these nerdy guys have now billions, they are still nerdy/awkward. Only now they have an Epstein and $ and can bypass the uncomfortable meet/get to know you situations.
In what I read, Gates didn’t say how he met the Russian women, but how does a twenty-something bridge player meet a billionaire 50+ year old??
And has it been confirmed the nuclear physicist he was with was actually a nuclear physicist?
I am more curious what business dealings he was having that put him in the same room as any nuclear physicist. He’s mostly been software and foundation work the past 10-15 years.

Documents released by the Justice Department briefly mention a woman’s unverified accusation that Donald J. Trump assaulted her in the 1980s, when she was a minor. But several memos related to her account are not in the files.
In a world where a third tier fashion model can get an “O” visa (usually given to scientists with an international reputation, extensive list of peer reviewed publications and folks like that) and then meet/marry a billionaire/POTUS, I applaud the ingenuity of the bridge player.
Apparently BG met her at a bridge tournament well before 2013 when she was introduced to Epstein. Per Google, BG is an avid bridge player and has competed in many.
And this is why the “files” are so critical. Lutnick swore never to be in the same room as Epstein years before the emails revealed that in fact, he took his family (wife, children, nannies) for lunch on the island. And now a photograph has been found which shows him on what may or may not be an island- but with Epstein and no sign of his wife or the nannies.
So was there a subsequent visit to the island or a beach jaunt? If it were up to Bondi et al, we would never know. The photo is certainly not of a block in Manhattan where the two of them ran into each other as next door neighbors in an innocent and perfunctory “Hi, bye”.
