This is a link to a transcript of a woman who filed suit in 2016 claiming Trump raped her when she was 13 at Jeffrey Epstein’s. And that Trump knew her age. It is true that these allegations were made and a suit was filed. After she received death threats she withdrew the suit.

Andy Borowitz is usually a satirist. Is this for real? I assume so, given how awful and believable it is, but just double checking

This is absolutely chilling and disturbing (and disgusting). I found some old reports from sources like Politico that seem to reference her case, saying that she received threats and canceled her press conference & lawsuit. I have heard other victims say that they are too frightened to name certain people who abused them, because their lives & those of their loved ones were threatened. This report is believable, but the story is so horrific that it is really, really important to verify that this transcript is real. If it is, I would believe the victim; much tracks with things we have seen in his personality.
So the question is … what happens now?

I don’t think Jeffrey Epstein is political, per se, so why not? Clearly he had bipartisan support.

The content posted here is not just about Epstein - and if there is legislative voting going on about him and the files it certainly is political.

This is a topic that is also non political, so general discussions about Epstein are allowed in the cafe.
The political forum moderators moved a number of posts over to this thread because the discussion that was happening in the PF had nothing to do with politics.
If people would like to talk about the politics of this, it is being discussed in the Hodge Podge thread.

I am guessing the question about “why is this thread in the cafe??” might have had something to do with the extremely unpleasant and graphic details in the linked facebook post, above?

The problem with this issue is that politics has seemingly prevented real victims from receiving any sort of justice. Power and political connections are pervasive in the information thus far released, and victims have stated that very powerful people have threatened them. It doesn’t seem to be about partisan politics, though … it’s about politics in the sense that it involves political figures and political influence. We should be able to discuss the facts of a case involving the sex trafficking of underage girls without being “political.”

Exactly. The fact that political figures or politically connected individuals have been or may be named doesn’t automatically make the discussion political.
I would hope we can all condemn this terrible behavior regardless of the political affiliation of those involved. Pedophilia and sex trafficking are not partisan issues, and they deserve universal condemnation.
