JHU Admission Officers' Corner

No. You receive an application that confirms your application was received and being processed. You will only receive a second e-mail about your application status if you are missing application materials. If you have not been contacted about missing items at this time you can safely assume your application is complete.

Hi
I just read your post on Hopkins blog. Very insightful =) thanxx for sharing with us the holistic process of JHU application review!

Is the first reader the applicant’s regional counselor? Or they get assigned on random basis?

Around how many times or how many readers will review an applicant’s file before the final decision is made?

Yes, the first reader is assigned regionally. At minimum an application will be reviewed by the first reader and then in committee. Most applications will go through multiple rounds of committee.

Hi AdmissionsDaniel. My questions isn’t related to undergraduate admissions, but I know that you reply in a reasonable time.

I keep receiving email from the FA office, but my attempts at contacting the office are never returned. They say I am missing IDOC documents, but all of my other schools have received them already when the IDOC made them available in mid February. What should I do if I am not getting through to the office?

Call them.

I have tried that, with no success. Will try again. Thanks.

admisionsDaniel my D have the same problem I call them twice and they said they will uploaded soon. when these will be. the rest of her schools already recieved the IDOC

I do not work for the Financial Aid office nor do I have access to their records. I do know that since the Financial Aid deadline was March 1, the office is inundated with the receipts of application materials and have a lot of processing to do. A bit of patience I know would be appreciated on their end.

Hi Mr Daniel
I’m not sure if you notice there’s something quite amusing with Hopkins forum. When I posted there, some of my posts showed up and got answered, while some just vanished into thin air O.0

The only posts to the Hopkins Forums that are removed are posts that are SPAM, violate our Forum Guidelines, or are repetitive posts.

I suppose my posts were removed due to their repetitive nature. I asked several people about their opinions on different courses they take, and 3 of my posts were removed =.="

washington university put their admissions decisions online tonight @ 5:45! nice surprise to have them posted early; my son got in! but is waiting to hear from hopkins…any idea if they’ll be up before april lst so we can visit over spring break?

No date has been announced yet for when we will release regular decision notifications. They will be released by April 1st. Don’t expect them to be released any earlier than the last week in March as it takes a lot of time to read, evaluate, and discuss in committee over 20,000 applications.

Is Johns Hopkins still offering interviews this late?

No. The opportunity to request an interview ended in mid-February.

Does not having an interview degrade an application?

Interviews are an optional part of the process for Johns Hopkins University. Interviews are informational. If an applicant did not have the chance to have an interview, the student’s application review is not impacted negatively.

So when my cousin stated that he had an interview with Hopkins this week he lied? He said he had an on-campus interview this month and I found it weird that Hopkins would still offer interviews 2 weeks before decisions are released.

Will admissions notifications come by EMAIL or snail mail?

Any estimate on when notifications of acceptance will be made?
