I missed this thread last year ( must have been all the stress of waiting to hear from colleges for our daughter )

I was a senior in high school when this happened . It is bittersweet to look back at that time of my life. I was going through the ins and outs with my first love. I have strong memories that come up when I hear certain songs . John Lennon’s " Starting Over " came up on my shuffle when I was driving today and I could remember the clothing I wore …also another song that was out at that time came up and it really took me back …It was Dan Fogelberg’s " Same Old Lang Syne "

I learned on my 50th birthday that the object of my affection from that time in my life had passed away.

It was my first year teaching high school.

I was really saddened-- by his loss and by the senselessness of his death.

It wasn’t long after that when another mentally ill person tried to kill our president. Looking back , I don’t think I understood the severity of that at the time. I didn’t relate to Ronald Reagan as much as an 18 year old as I did John Lennon

One nit picky thing @jym626 the Home Shopping Network will not be airing any guns. A totally separate enterprise is doing this.

Regardless, it’s shocking to think this will be airing
