Hey Guys! I’m an international applicant to JHU! I’ve explored quite a few college campuses on my trips to the States but I’ve never had the opportunity of coming to Baltimore! From what I have read up I really like the school but since the decision isn’t for another week I was hoping someone could further excite me about the possibility of attending (even though I doubt ill get in haha)
@AnnieBot Same here! After spending the summer after my freshman year at JHU CTY, I completely fell in love with the school! I wouldn’t be sad about a rejection from any Ivy, but I would definitely cry over a rejection from JHU :’(
Good luck everyone!
When I visited the campus last year with my son, I was struck by the vibrant intellectualism at JHU. Walking up the main path from Charles street, I passed two students in earnest discussion I believe about economics and Smith’s theory or something like that. They seemed passionate and engaged. The student who led the info session with the admissions counselor was amazing… a total academic rock star and the best student representative of any school we toured (and we toured almost ALL the top schools except Stanford). I am a JHU alum and the campus is more stunning than when I attended in the late 70s. Wishing all of you good luck with this!
I’m in so much distress Although I submitted my CSS on February 15, financial aid tracker says it’s not received!
I emailed financial aid office thrice to ask if my CSS profile could be located in the database since College Board sent me a confirmation email about sending the CSS profile to JHU. But JHU never replied to my email over the last twenty days. Every single time I sent in the email, the only reply I received was an auto-answer “…
We have received your e-mail, and your question is in the process of
being reviewed, and routed to the appropriate staff member. We will
make every effort to respond to your message within 48-72 hours…”
Moreover, the “Status Date” next to my CSS profile is “1/9/2015”, implying my profile was never updated after January 9. I totally don’t understand!
Has anyone ever been in a remotely similar situation :’( ?
@Ambitious19 looks like a lot of us feel the same way. Really hoping to get in. And it’s always great to see another CTY alum. What course did you take your year?
@Hephaestus I haven’t been in that situation myself, but I would call the admissions office now, especially if it is running on 20+ days since they have replied to your email. Admissions offices generally are better at responding to calls than emails. I would call so you can speak to an actual person
@fitforcollege I took Macroeconomics and the Global Economy! What about you?
@Ambitious19 that’s pretty cool! I took logic and reasoning one year and cryptology the second.
Does anyone know the acceptance rate excluding BME?
Any other Northwestern rejects in the house???
@Jehkobe Northwestern waitlisted so basically a gentle rejection
@Jehkobe I was rejected but I got a Penn likely a month ago, which shows how random college admissions are! I’m not too upset because I was never really that interested in Northwestern anyways. aslkjdfh JHU decisions in 4 days!!
We’re all in this together guise ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NU was kind of a last second application for me so I wasn’t too upset. Once the admit rate drops below 25%, decisions day almost becomes random anyway. Also, each school is looking for a specific type of person(I guess not me).
@Jehkobe I just hope the admissions committee at JHU sees how much we love their school :’(
@Ambitious19 Ya, as a California resident I haven’t had the chance to visit Baltimore but on paper it is a perfect fit for me. I just hope the admissions office thinks the same.
a bit of movie trivia: If you have seen the film Social Network, about the creation of Facebook… it was filmed at Hopkins. It is supposed to represent Harvard but Harvard doesn’t allow filming on campus anymore. I remember when I saw the movie, I thought to myself, “looks just like Hopkins!” Our student tour guide on campus tour confirmed it.
edit: oops, nvm
