We’ve been experimenting since the start of the pandemic with loosely moderated threads. As I mentioned at the [start of the last month](Coronavirus thread for June - Parent Cafe - College Confidential Forums):
Unfortunately, we got a lot of flags from that thread. I also received many PMs pointing out replies that were more interested in scoring rhetorical points than engaging in meaningful conversation. And I saw more than a few comments that were disrespectful of other people. It seems like the stress of this pandemic makes it hard to have the sort of civil discourse that typifies this community.
I’ve discussed this with the moderators. Going forward, coronavirus threads should be limited to:

[] discussions related to college in some way or
[] discussions about the immediate impact of the disease on a member of the community.
