June 2008- Math Level 2

yeah overanalyzing sux cuz u get super confused

The answer to the bouncing question was definitely 4. Initial height was 10 feet if I remember correctly. 10 * .4 is 48 inches. That’s one bounce. 48 inches * .4 is 19.2 inches. That’s two. 19.2 inches * .4 is 7.68 inches. That’s three. And four bounces is less than six inches.

ya guys i agree about the overanalyzing leave the analysis to the hard questions lol

For the linear graph that asked you to find x such that f(f(x))=3, x=4 (E)

what was this one?

The range was >-1.38, not -1.93

now that i thikn about UOducks, i remember putting 1.38 on my test as well for the range, i even zoomed in and double checked

In x(x-1)(x-2)/(x-2), don’t you cancel out the (x-2)?

Should I cancel my scores if I only got 30-35 questions right?
I took this during sophomore year; will colleges sympathize with the fact that I took it earlier than normal, if I retake it?

idk, it depends where you want to go and what you want to get.

and dragonscale: yes, you do, but it still leaves a “hole” discontinuity

can someone refresh my memory on this one
43. For the linear graph that asked you to find x such that f(f(x))=3, x=4 (E)
does anyone remember the function…
thanks!

it was a graph with a negative slope with y-intercept at (0,4) i think

y = -1/2x + 4

^haha yeah that was it

question for all of you that took this test:

Do you feel as though this test strictly tested your knowledge of Pre-calc./trig and alg. II, or was it similar to SAT I math in that it tested reasoning as well (included tricks and traps to fall into.)?

Also, what prep book should I get? I’m taking Math II in october. I could probably get a 700+ with out prep…but I’m aiming for a 750+.

i think it was a good test.

im gonna ask again cuz i feel really insecure, and im not sure if i got a clear answer so sorry if im annoying you lol, can i still get an 800 with 6 wrong?

depending on curve. yes

I felt that the test included some q’s you might find on the SAT I’s math section, but a majority of it was on trig/pre-calc. Partly because I didn’t feel as though there were many tricks or q’s that specifically tested reasoning skills.

What do you guys think about 12 omit, 3 or 4 wrong? Can I get high 600s-low 700s? =]

sixthsense, i say yes!!!

@ Placidia:

That is about a 700. Usually a 35/50 is a 700. Depends on this tests curve.
