June 2009 SAT Critical Reading

@Bee123 That’s what I put too. Everything else looked…weird.

for what one(s)?

The blogging one
“overstated similarities” or something like that

Which passages were in the experimental section?

yes i got “overstated similarities” to!

YAY! = ]
I think the SAT was so much better than the ACT.

what were the other choices for the one with credulous and what were the other choices for the one with overstating similarities?

don’t remember

For Alistair passage, what was the answer for the quote “Am I exaggerating the role of the caravan in our family history? Or embellishing it? I’m not sure.”?

what were the other choices for overstating similarities?

immortalix: to question her accuracy.

I don’t know how that would be funny…

Ya I put overstating similarities. I think I might actually have got an 760-800 on this CR…lol I’m so excited considering I got a horrific 69/80 on the PSAT and I literally woke up early on saturday and randomly decided to come in and test as a standby.

Hey still 2 questions

The one where he was like “this applies to rocks”, was it showing that solid objects are still vulnarble to water, that natruval vs. unnatural has no essential differences, the force of the water, or that manufactures lie?

I put the force of the water…becasue natural vs. unnatural has more differneces than effect on water and the solid objects (if this is the answer i would be ****ed off because i specifically thought well it never said what “essential differences” refers to, so its a little big strong), remeber he already talked about how cowboy boots are not waterproof (and they are solid so i dont see why he would restate again)…as a result i put something to show force of water (but i wasnt sure)

When she was like (the minivan person), Alistar…and then “But I know what I know”, what is she trying to say?

I put that she was saying that Alistar greatly affected her experiences? Is that what you guys put? dont remember other chioces.

I didn’t put overstating similarities. I put that he neglected other forms of media (the only other respectable choice).

hmmm…don’t remember a choice being about the “force of water” - isn’t that kind of similar to the one that even the most solid objects are not invulnerable to water?

I said the invulnerable one, but I had some reservations because didn’t the article later say that rocks weren’t that solid - or something like “So, what does it mean to be as solid as a rock?” And then that rocks should be considered in terms of their fragility?

Thoughts on this?

First, i put overstating similarities because it said that newspaper = blogs which was an overstatement (ti did not neglet other forms as it talked about newspapers)

The one about solids…i didnt think any would work

The problem with saying “to show that even solids are not waterproof”, remember earlier he said that cowboy boots and coats are not waterproof and they are already solids…so if he wanted to point that out, why would he talk about rocks that way.

the problem with unnatural vs. natural was that its way too strong?

Are you sure there wasnt one with “force of water”…I put that because I thought it wanted to show that the water could even penetrate rocks…but i guess tahts like saying “even the STRONGEST of solids are invunlarble to water”…i dont know if STRONGEST was in the first choice with solids.

Can someone answer these two first?

what about the ALister one? Was that showing that ALister affected her life exerpieneces.

The last two were both Passage 1 vs. passage 2 had something to do with present vs. histroical?

I think it was something about how Alistair made her biased.

!! not sure, but I said Passage 1 was more critical, passage 2 was more something I can’t remember…maybe historical? I mean, passage 1 was def. pretty critical - the whole “takeover” and the “perturbed professors,” etc.

Quick Note:

Rock choice was

“Even the most solid of objects are not invulnerable to water”

I believe I put alistair affected her life experiences or something along those lines.

And, for the blogs, the first guy listed THREE forms of media. I don’t remember what they were, but there were definitely 3. The 2nd passage only mentioned newspapers.

hmmm i have to disagree with you…

passage 1 was really about blogging, and in passage 2, the guy was talking about how newspapers and blogging weren’t all that different. Yet in passage 1, the author kept implying that blogs are more democratic…therefore, he would say that the author of passage two was overstating the similarities between blogs and newspapers.

I’m pritty darn sure that the author mentioned rocks to emphasize that water can affect even the most solid objects. Later in the passage, yes, he said that due to the environment, water can make some rocks fragile. However, in the context of the sentence asked about it was definately focusing on the “universial permeablility” of water.
