June 2010 Writing

do you remember what was underlined?

guys, what are the chances that a 10 e -1 mc is an 800?

The chances of that are decent.

what was the essay question? does anyone remember?

The works of estonian author james jarka, which were written in prussian and some other language, were not written in his native language of estonian

I dont remember exactly what was underlined, but i know “his native” was. So what do you guys think this one is?

^I don’t remember that question at all.

^ what about the dinosaur question

was it this

something something dinosaur, coined in 1814, meaning terrible lizard, something something. was that the answer?

also did the “although” question have something to do about pencils? also if not, was the answer to the pencil one if anyone remembers “as early As”?

“Intent about” is correct usage.

^no it’s not. it should be “intent on.”

Pretty sure that was the correct one.

Don’t remember, sorry.

It was definitely of the construction “although . . . , but . . . ,” which is redundant.

Ah well, I f**ed the writing section really badly. At least -5 wrong this time. I was thrown off by the experimentals and lack of no errors. Anyways, I already have a 770W so I’m good! What’s ironic is that for that session I got perfect MC but 8 essay. This time I’m pretty sure I did better on my essay. Lolz.

if i got -2 1 omit
and a 8 on essay, what would that be?
also, i know length kinda matters on essays… however, i only wrote 1 1/4 page. is that enough for an 8 :</p>

^ About 700.

It might be enough. Length is second to writing ability, though. It all depends on whether or not you developed your examples.

What’s an 11 essay 3 wrong 0 skip.

^ should be above 700

^ Way above 700 11 3 wrong should be 750-760

what if you wrote about the simpsons and your own personal experience for the essay?

Someone predict 4-5 wrong w/ 8-10 essay?

that essay topic (opposites attract) rules out history

For literature, I was thinking of Macbeth, but I just couldn’t get it to fit.

First of all, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth are very similar. Both of them try to be men. Secondly, Macbeth becomes nihilistic and doesn’t even care about Lady Macbeth dying. Thirdly, how are you supposed to prove that they are attracted to each other? Oh, they just like each other because they use terms of endearment, make out, and are married. Yeah, that doesn’t work. At the same time, you can’t say they dislike each other. The whole reversal of roles makes it confusing, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to provide a satisfactory interpretation.

In retrospect, Of Mice and Men could have worked.

@jolly
According to the Princeton Review:
5x and an 8 essay: 690-730
4x and a 10 essay: 740-780
that’s pretty inconclusive (690-780)

^ First of all, it’s impossible to use curves from books other than the Collegeboard to predict a score. That’s ridiculous. Secondly, how does the topic rule out history?? The topic was very conducive to real, concrete examples
