@SCC2014 definitely 800

lol a good chunk of barrons wasn’t even on the test

im so glad that the plants section wasn’t on it

@SCC2014 definitely 800

lol a good chunk of barrons wasn’t even on the test

im so glad that the plants section wasn’t on it

@SCC: Yes, that is in 800 range.

^how would the tree question be a bell curve?

Really nothing in the human body on the test

@coolkid555 I explained it a while ago but basically ants come, then the food is less and less so they go away until you have 0 ants in the end

^^if they had put an ear diagram instead of an eye i would have missed all of the questions lol

@kili16 ohhh, ok thanks!! lol

For the tree question, I put a linear line going downward. As it decomposes more, less animals will stay remain for food. I can see how it would make a bell curve, but I think the question assumed that there were insects in the area.

@redsn0w but that would mean there was a bunch of ants before

think of putting a piece of food on the sidewalk…after a while some ants come…and after that loads of ants come

Hopefully the curve is more generous.

I chose the steadily downward line. My logic was that there were insects living in the tree, and as it decomposes, there’s less space for them to live. I am probably wrong.

This thread makes me feel a lot more confident that I am going to get over a 700 (which has been my goal). Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll hit 750! I got a lot of the same answers as you did, almost all of them I believe.

The tree one, as I said, was very vague so I went for the basic explanation. Those types of questions are cr*p because you spend a lot of time thinking when they were probably thinking a about a really stupid situation. But we will see once the scores come up :)

@SCC2014 I think this test was harder than most, the eye thing probably killed a couple of people. Plus those experiments are sometimes confusing so lets hope for a nice curve

im fairly certain coral reef is a biome

so minus three pretty close to the 800 range as well?

Just saying, I don’t remember that question ever mentioning biome. I’m pretty sure it said region, or something like that.

Besides, I’m pretty sure coral reef would fall under “marine biome”, which Barron’s went over pretty extensively.

Coral reef was the answer without a doubt because the other 4 are not very diverse biomes

Coral Reef is definitely the answer.

For the tree one, it was definitely a linear line going downwards.
Cuz the questions specified that graph starts when tree is already fallen.

… This thread is making me even more nervous about the number of questions I got wrong but more hopeful about the curve …

Once the tree falls, insects are permitted to feed on it, which precipitates a spike in their population. Once the tree fully decomposes, the insects no longer have a food source and die. It’s that simple.
