June 2012 SAT II Biology

@Kili16 Yeah, I’m fairly sure I’m getting confused with the practice tests. -__- Sorry guys.

So does anyone have approximations of their score not that we’ve basically figured out most of the hard and memorable questions?

Can we please list the answers for the Ribosome diagram?

Ok, so Aquawater98 figured out the numbers for the diagram. 3 is ambiguous, but I think it might be RNA polymerase. Here are the numbers for reference (not all were asked for the questions):
1 = phosphate backbone of DNA
2 = hydrogen bonds between DNA bases
3 = RNA polymerase
4 = mRNA
5 = ribosome
6 = tRNA
7 = growing polypeptide
These were the questions (not in correct order):

 1. hydrogen bond = 2 (was the line connecting the bases of DNA at top)
 2. mRNA = 4 (a long string-like thing)
 3. ribosome = 5 (the big circular thing in bottom-left part)
 4. And then I honestly think there was a fourth question that said something like “Made of rRNA and protein.” So this would also be ribosome (5). But I could be imagining this because nobody else remembers. :P

Sorry, it was bottom-right for the ribosome.
Can anyone confirm these answers by the way?

@Piano68 didn’t number 3 say it was made of RNA and protein… Im wondering how there were four quetions for that diagram

@thingschange Yeah, I think it did. So there were probably just 3 questions. Sorry. Lol I have a pretty bad memory. :(

There were 4 questions in that section: one was the hydrogen bond, the other was mRNA and two had ribosome as an answer

I agree to all the general section answers that were presented. (the “I only” for BbxBb, etc.)
Don’t extensively cover the test some people in 2014 will be very happy they peeked at old threads. :D

@Kili16 what did the other question that had to deal with the ribosome ask for?

the 2 ribosome questions for the transcription/translation diagram…
Q#1: ???
lastQ: which structure is made of protein and RNA?

there were also 2 questions at the beginning for ribosomes? (or was that a practice test, lol?)

@Lanayru Yes, that’s right.
Q1 simply asked for “the ribosome.” As in, they told you it was the ribosome and you had to identify which structure it was.
Q2 said “which structure is made of protein and RNA.” This would also be the ribosome.

I know there was a question asking which organelle was in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. That would be the ribosome. Not sure about the other question.

I also think there was a question about pro/eukaryotic cells, but I don’t think it was part of the diagram… and yeah, I agree w/ the 2 questions above. There was also the hydrogen bond one, but did one of the question really ask for what’s mRNA? I thought asking to identify the ribosome was the only one of its type there…

I remember… that I got the first 2 right… dont know what i put for the “Structure made of protein and RNA” >.> There goes my chance at 800 :(

Not necessarily, you might’ve gotten lucky xD

I got three wrong. Is there a chance that that will be an 800?

^ Yes, there’s a chance. Many speculate that the curve for this test will be lenient.

I omitted 2 and got 3 wrong. Whats my predicted score?

Probaly a 780.

I ommited 2 and got 5 wrong. What is my predicted score?

I’m still not really sure about the curve. In sparknotes for example, two wrong and bye bye 800.
However, this test is apparently harder so maybe 3 wrong is an 800? Very confusing xD

-3 wrong = -4 raw = close call
