June 2012 SAT II Biology

Exactly what my problem is right now… :frowning: -3 T_T

I think it’s unlikely that -3 will still be an 800, but maybe if CB really thought this test was hard x/

I guess that’s what I get for not studying T__T AAGGHHHH Freshman year sux :/

Lol, gets a lot worse sophomore and junior year.

^ Hahah. Yep

Haha i know  freshman year sux cuz like in the beginning ur all excited and in the end its like senioritis… :/

Happens every year, if you’re like me Summer break should be enough to invigorate you for a new school year, even if it doesn’t seem like that now.

Senioritis already? Dang. It started really badly for me after AP testing a couple weeks ago xD That’s why I like… didn’t study for finals at all lol.

i was wondering about my eye, does my retina show as a layer of the eye or does it come out of a stalk?

piano68–
rat lab that you posted as #9 counts as two separate questions, so maybe only 14 more to go???

o and there was a question about yeast budding. answer was asexual.
13 more to go

Haha yea senioritis already  That’s exactly what happened to me!!! After AP exams I just like stopped studying for everything even for the finals … And yesh the rat lab counted as 2 different questions. Asexual I got to :)

I think it’s a layer of the eye? Not too sure D:

Wait… you took AP exams as a freshman? e.o; but they don’t even count for credit yet, right? I know that AP classes won’t count for you yet.

@daesung You’re a freshman and they let you take APs?! Which APs did you take? Is it just you or was your whole class taking APs? Wow, you’re lucky. Lol
Where I go you can only take a math AP as a freshman. That’s only if you place into Calc AB/BC or higher, which I definitely did not do. :P

And to everyone, regarding the list, I’m going to go through everything in this thread and collect the answers that aren’t on the list. It’ll probably take awhile since there’s answers at the beginning we missed.

Ok, before I continue, I’d like to confirm that all these questions are a part of the general section. I found more answers at the beginning of this thread, but they don’t necessarily belong to general. So…can someone (preferable someone who took E) confirm that all these questions were in general?

General:

 1. mitochondrion
 2. mitochondrion
 3. chloroplast
 4. cell membrane
 5. retina
 6. iris
 7. lens
 8. Rat Lab: 80% of offspring at day 21
 9. Rat Lab: mothers’ diets must be same
 10. Rat Lab: prolonged birth decreases chances of offspring survival
 11. evolutionary order of fossils: starfish, shark, dinosaur, bird, whale
 12. convergent evolution: shark and whale
 13. most closely related to primates: whale
 14. uric acid: bird and dinosaur
 15. Population Graphs: humans are exponential
 16. Population Graphs: deer that reach a carrying capacity are a steady increase, then horizontal line
 17. Population Graphs: insects are bell curve
 18. Types of Offspring: purebred chicken had same coat color
 19. Types of Offspring: mule was hybrid
 20. Types of Offspring: yeast was asexual
 21. abnormal chromosome separation: <_> (telomeres together)
 22. Estrogen question: does all 3 things (Answer E)
 23. primary cause of global warming: accumulation of greenhouse gases
 24. not part of arthropods: leeches
 25. lichens: mutualism
 26. tundra: cannot grow roots into soil
 27. most diverse biome: coral reef
 28. clumped population: due to mating
 29. neuromuscular junction: chemical signals
 30. implantation of embryo: lining of uterus
 31. cats and dogs: same phylum
 32. organelle found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes: ribosomes
 33. Vine Lab: does not confirm hypothesis
 34. Vine Lab: conclusion is that vines are dependent on trees for support and nutrients
 35. Vine Lab: graph that starts with experimental faster than control but soon turns into control much faster than experimental (Answer C)
 36. Leaf Diagram: most photosynthetic were the palisade mesophyll cells
 37. Leaf Diagram: allows exchange of gases was guard cells (stomata)
 38. Leaf Diagram: allows transport was vascular bundle (one that looked like veins)
 39. Transcription/Translation: hydrogen bond was number 2
 40. Transcription/Translation: mRNA was number 4
 41. Transcription/Translation: the ribosome was number 5
 42. Transcription/Translation: contains both RNA and protein is ribosome (number 5)

*NOTE Difference between 41 and 42: 41 directly asked for the ribosome by stating “the ribosome”, 42 hinted at the ribosome by stating “contains both RNA and protein”

Chart with Crosses: Bb x Bb is only Cross I (Answer A)

Chart with Crosses: offspring are 100% Bb on one cross

Chart with Crosses: ???

*NOTE There were three questions about the crosses, but we haven’t figured out the last one.

bicarbonate ion: acts as buffer

least possible offspring: O blood type

negative feedback

origin of life came from mixing amino acids in ancient, Earth-like atmosphere

Darwin’s theory of evolution based on populations

genetic variance of sexual reproduction: crossing-over

plant scenario: the plant produces more O2 then it uses in respiration

allele frequency least affected by random mating

enzyme denatured at 100 degrees C

third trophic level would have 0.1% of energy

I took AP Bio and World History. And yesh it counts as ap credit  I took AP Physics B in 8th grade got a 4  well I was really bad procrastinator so I was probably lucky getting that score LOL For soph year Im taking AP chem apush and cal bc  Also self studying some. Oh and I forgot to answer Piano’s question. The class isn’t just freshmans there are mostly juniors and seniors though a few freshman’s but I was only 1 of 2 freshman’s taking 2 ap classes the other is a close friend of mine  Haha what about you guys???

@daesung O_O Physics B as an 8TH GRADER?! Are you serious? Wow.
I only took the Spanish AP test so far, but that’s only because it’s my first language. I’m taking World History and Calc BC next year for APs. Also, I might try Music Theory.
Jeez, are you a genius? :O

My school offers 1 AP (HuG!) to freshies, 1 AP (WorldH) + some extras (env sci, bio, psych, stat) if your teacher REALLY REALLY recommends you (all the suck-ups and the actually smart kiddos, this policy started after my class of 2013 -.-), and opens the floodgates to juniors/seniors.

Jeez. LOL. It’s like very rare for sophomores to take BC at our school. I only know 3 people that did. AP chem and apush… e.o;;;; I feel so inferior right now LOL.

Piano, that looks really good! Oh… could you separate them into general, E, and M please? :D

Yeah, sorry, I’ve been a little busy. I’ll be doing that later when I get back, but I have to leave for something now. So…if those 55 questions are all correct and belong to the general section, we only have 5 more to find for general, 5 more to find for E, and none for M. I’ll post the E and M sections later.

I’m taking Calc BC as a junior LOL. At my school, no APs are offered to freshman, and only one is offered to sophomores. -____- I ended up self-studying two. During junior year, two are offered but I’m self-studying 6.
