@zarafay You should be okay, I mean the scantrons won’t mess up and if your score is only a little lower than what you thought, it’s prob not the scantron, if it were a BIG difference, then maybe.

@zarafay i was wondering the exact same thing. lots of the bubbles on the other side of the page were visible… i guess I shouldn’t press as hard next time.

For math get pwnthesat’s math guide!

Couple math questions on a practice math SAT. In an assortment of cereals, 23 types contain oats and 25 types contain rice. Some of these cereals contain both oats and rice. If 16 cereals in this assortment contain oats but not rice, how many cereals contain rice but not oats? My answer was 16. the correct answer was 18

In the integer 3589 the digits are all different and increase from left to right. How many integers between 4000 and 5000 have digits that are all different and increase from left to right? I had 6, correct answer was 10

@sat2014 There is actually for a formula for those types of questions (the cereal one) It’s Total= A+B+Neither-Both.
A and B are just the two types. Are you sure you typed the question correctly, like as it is from the test, I can’t really apply the formula here. I feel like something is missing.

Also, I’m thinking about trying the ACT in September, can anyone give me any tips or tell me how it compares to the SAT?

@Jor26029 Nicely done! Yeah, venn diagram works better than the equation in this case.

@presque Hmmm okay thanks! I’ll check out the sparknotes stuff thanks!!!

thanks guys.

http://file.xdf.cn/soft/120510/146_1113044362.pdf if you guys could help me with section 7 number 6 please. And also section 9 numbers 12 and 16. Thank You. Got those wrong and don’t know the right solutions

@sat2014 I got the right answer E for the first one, but I don’t know the proper way of doing it. Since it doesn’t say figure is not drawn to scale, you can basically judge it, and E is the only one that is exactly the same.
If anyone knows the proper way please let us know

@sat2014 For 12 and 16, have you tried plugging in numbers?

I did and got them both wrong

hey, I know this is off topic, but how many extracurricular activities do schools like upenn an cornell look for on an application?

Plugging in numbers is my favorite thing to do but you have to make sure you’re picking good numbers and you’re doing the right math

@juju76567 While I don’t know the specifics of these two schools admissions process, if they are anything like any other Ivy or very selective school I have an idea. They’re not looking for a certain number but rather your involvement. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but I think they’d prefer you to have 3 activities you’re highly involved in than 10 activities you’re barely involved in.

Just got my scores back for June SAT yesterday and got an 800 in math! which surprised me because I only studied math for 1 day before taking the June SAT using the Princeton Review Cracking the SAT 2013 book

I have Cr:680 Math:770, Writing :700, sat 2: math 2 - 780, bio 670, gpa 4.0 unweighted, 4.30 weighted, was on 3 sports teams freshman and sophomore year, and now I am in 5 clubs , nhs, and volunteer at a hospital (200+ hours), I tutor kids for the shsat what r my chances of getting in to cornell and upenn

@Jor26029 I got a 2090 the first time, my score dropped to the 1900s this time. Really hoping to get my dream score of 2300+ in Oct. I’m gonna take multiple practice tests and climb my way there, just incase you were thinking how can someone just go from a 2090 to a 2300.
