***June 2016 ACT Discussion Thread***

^Highly unlikely what the rep told you is not true. The main point of recycling tests is to save money.

Piecing together future tests by taking apart previously administered tests, then reconstructing new scales that are accurate is not exactly cost effective.

So if a test is recycled, it’s probably an entire test.

The test was recycled, no question

Oops! I meant

This is a travesty. You would think the ACT would administer a test on an equal playing field. :frowning:

IMO recycling a test isn’t a big deal if done right- but this certainly wasn’t. Since it’s barely a year in between the two dates, it’ very likely some kids took it previously. I know kids who took the Feb test didn’t get to see their errors or anything, but the familiarity with passages, equations, etc. could be VERY helpful in a test where time is a significant factor.

Do you think this has anything to do with what happened in Hong Kong? Maybe we were all supposed to take a different test but then the cheating scandal happened and ACT just decided to switch up all the tests and threw in one from last Feb??? Don’t know if that’s even possible, Just a theory.

@microssrunner17 I don’t think so. I doubt they had all the necessary test packets on such short notice.

@jruesmith7 To what end?

So they cancel the test for everyone world wide?

That is a terrible idea.

I sat in a room for hours filling in test bubbles. I don’t care if they reused a test, I want my scores.

It doesn’t make sense to me as to why they would reuse a test so soon, talk about unfair.

@CATDECAL Not such a terrible idea when students are getting an unfair advantage…The least we could do is bring some attention to it to the media
Yes, cancelling it would probably anger tons of hardworking students who did really well on this test. But with the curve basically dropping students a point for each problem they miss, the value between a 36 and a 34 isn’t the same anymore.

My Feb test last year I didn’t not score how I would like. I think I’ve seen others posted the curves before so I won’t go into that.

While I dont think I got too huge of an advantage, there were a couple math and English questions that I remembered and wrote down when I got home. I reviewed over those questions before the test along with other materials so I’m sure I minimized all that I missed. Test was obviously easy when I knew all the hardest math questions. I got a reading score of 34 last feb so that reading was a cake walk again this year.

I hope that I score better this year. Hope anyone doesn’t feel cheated or disgruntled but I understand the outrage.

This is absolutely ridiculous. You would think the ACT would make it so nobody had such an advantage…

I believe the students who said they took the test in February. I just did the live chat with a person at ACT and when I asked the question regarding the same test, the response was “the odds of it being the same test are slim to none”. I hope it was similar or only a few questions the same. It would be unfair otherwise.

@easygoer1 From what I have seen and heard, the exam was completely recycled. You can check this page for more info

But anyways, it will be a huge disappointment if the curve is same as February. I got a 35 on the April Exam and was aiming for a 36 in June.

@easygoer1 Yeah it’s pretty much confirmed that they completely recycled the test. Obviously the ACT isn’t going to say they did though they are going to try to cover their butt.

Does anybody know when and what time ACT (multiple choice) scores release?

@SirSly June 21st at midnight for first release.

@SirSly I like your band
