Junioritis, Class of 2012

You mean tube with confetti? :)

Only schools I really care about are USC, Vandy and LMU.
I would apply to just those 3 + Stanford, but it would be foolish to do so.

Ooh that’s awesome about the newspaper!! I can’t wait to get dorm stuff too!! I’m also getting a new macbook pro then  can’t. wait.

That’s a good way to put it…they do treat us like robots. Money doesn’t always sit in a bank…it’s constantly being used to pay for some bill or some surgery. That’s life…

I haven’t heard that about USC but I also haven’t done too much research yet! I’m in the 150-200k income range…so I’m guessing I will have to rely on scholarships. Unless I got into Yale or something then I’d only have to pay 10% of my parents’ incomes. But that will not be happening haha.

lolz all I want is NEU.

Haha.
All of you want so much more. Like the top, top, top schools.
I just want something smaller. It’s a great school and a reach, but it is all I want.

YES THE CONFETTI TUBE

Ghuskies yes I need to be in that Yale newspaper lol my old Chem teacher hangs it up in her room every year if she’s ever had the student. She has about 6.

Black- hey, You don’t have to go to a top 20 school to be happy or successful.

There are only six schools I want to go to out of the 10 I’m applying to.

MIT Yale RPI Cornell Wellesley smith

I need a miracle.

USC is getting soooo competitive… sigh. I’ve done some essay-worthy things, so I guess I’m not too worried… except for test scores. :(

And ghuskies, you never know what will happen with Yale!!
I have a story to tell about a girl at my school and Yale, but I think I’ll save it lol.
Let’s just say that if I introduced the girl to CC, she’d have a heart attack.

I think all juniors need a miracle right now.

i know that i do.
I’m just slacking off and failing everything.
Like Latin I just had an A a few weeks ago and my grade fell like crazy. It makes no sense. Darn you Ovid and your tricky latin words!!!

I have a 90 in APUSH. I’ve never gotten above a 93 and this is my lowest. I know it seems like I shouldn’t be complaining. But whatever happens from now until January 2012 will be my fault, whether it’s good or bad.

I swear I refuse to get a B next year. Maybe after first semester. Not now. And not lower than an 86.

I feel like I put too much pressure on myself. But I know I’ll be happy as **** (hehe I censored it myself) when I get acceptances (from one or more of those six, of course.)

I hate how teachers keep piling on work, as if their class is the only class I take -_____-

I refuse to get a B next year, too. No exceptions.

I just used Yale as an ex. I don’t want to go there at all lol. The Ivies are the only schools where I could end up not paying the full tuition without scholarships because pretty much everyone there pays only a percentage of their parents’ income. their policy is really good.

Ahh attacking those scholarship essays when they come out…

It’s AP/IB. they don’t care. It’s strongly advised to NOT take AP English and psych. Essays and reading 5 hours per night? Yes. But hey, you can’t tell us high achieving students anything :)

The psych teacher said, 4 APs is a regular college schedule. Except, we’re living on a high school schedule so we have much less time to do work.

It’ll pay off.

Oh ahaha okay.

I wish the commonapp didn’t come out so late though. :frowning: I don’t think the essays for the schools I’m applying to change that much though.

MIT said they release their app in late august/sept. They know people will be attacking them.

I hope the rest come out in mid July. I get out of school late June. Just enough time to wind down from school before I start back up again.

Hopefully I’m at MIT this summer… Wish me luck guys :(

Your wish is my command.

Bout to start wirting another poem. It’s gonna be so sweet.

@WarehouseAtHome: I’m applying to Chapman-Dodge too! Gonna apply for the BA in Production…their facilities sound great and it’s not that far from LA. (:

omg, S.H.E. they’re so BA. lol. I read Hana-kimi for awhile because my friend suggested it, but I never finished it and I never watched the drama. >__>

@CPU People that blame others for their own inadequacies are just sore losers. Seriously. Don’t let it bother you too much. They won’t get very far if all they do is whine and expect everything to be handed to them.

People seem to be very ignorant about the college process…just because you are of mixed heritage or of a minority doesn’t mean you’re going to get in. Since the vast majority of the college population is STILL caucasian, shouldn’t that mean, if you are caucasian you are MORE likely to get in than someone who is not? I don’t get it. Sure colleges like to boast about their “diverse and global communities,” but the determining factor to your admission is almost always never going to be your race. Academics, Recs, Test Scores, ECs, and your essay are the things you should worry about.

About a dozen college admissions representatives from across the country came to our school to do a College Application Workshop, and basically, we had to choose 3 people to accept out of 6 remaining applicants to admit to a fictional college. Even in the FINAL round of admissions, RACE was not a playing factor. First and foremost were Academics, Recs, and the Essay. College want to know they are admitting not only good students, but good citizens and good people. Maybe it might seem like we are simply numbers or faces, but I’d like to think the right kind of school isn’t like that. There is a business aspect to college but, overall, the goal is to cultivate the best and brightest people–to enlighten and educate the future leaders of tomorrow.

Sorry. I kind of went on a rant there. -_-;

Also, 4 AP courses = a college schedule?? (I guess that makes sense because they are at the college level for possible college credit and the average course load to graduate in 4 years is 16 credits, approximately = to 4 classes, but I never really thought of it like that. V__V) Dear god, I am definitely feeling it…

@Marine: Yeah, I heard USC meets 100% of need. (Scoore!)

Also, if you take into account that slightly over 100 freshman get the Trustee Scholarship, 300-400 get the Presidential/National Merit, and there are still other merit awards, USC is looking pretty good. I know i won’t qualify for much aid, (but I will get some, since I get aid for my HS), I’m crossing my fingers for at least a Presidential. That’s why I need the up the GPA. .__.

Look at it this way, guys: we’re going to love college. (:

Oooh crossing my fingers for one of those awards

Best of luck. :)

Cant wait for college!

@indigo Thanks! I like how organized that is lol. Top 1-2% SAT might be an issue. I don’t know how high mine will be, I’m stilll waiting for my first scores to come back. I probably won’t be one of those kids with a near 2400 score!

Ahhhh college. Can we skip senior year? I’m not even excited for it. everyone says it’s so fun but honestly I’ll be working my butt off with 5 ap classes and maintaining my grades.

4APs one honors next year.

I hate school. Ever since I moved up here, I’ve been bullied. School has been the absolute WORST.

looks like i’ve missed a lot !
Im 100% nigerian ! woot woot ! honestly i dont see how being a minority significantly affects college acceptances.

anyway, i want to apply to USC !! but daddy will probably have to move down there with me because he wont be able to bear the distance.

omg CPU i REALLY cannot wait to go dorm room shopping !! i’m going all out ! or as much as my mom would like to pay lol. and whose bullying you !!! how RUDE !! actually im kindof a bully … but i bully the kids who bully people who dont/cant defend themselves.

@ghuskies: i really cant wait till graduation! all the stress and drama of highschool will just be a distant memory.
