Who’s applying to Columbia or Duke? Why? Have you thought of the roommate situation?

Columbia because my friend went there and said they have really good research and study abroad programs. Plus, I’ve heard good things about the Ancient Studies department.

What about the roommate situation?

im applying to both. roomate situation?

I am applying to both, and what is this of a roomate situation?

i might apply to duke and or columbia. My first issuse is to first get accepted into the college

A-Card: I’m applying for sure to Duke and Columbia…not sure which one I will ED yet.

As for the roomate situation: do you know if you want a roomate or not? At Columbia they allow you to have a single room. Also, are you going to do the random roomate thing or find a roomate on facebook or something?

I’d go for a random roommate.

yeah, random roomate. Like a suprise and a good way to meet new people. I have been to summer camp for 4 years where they give yo urandom roomates, and they have all been chill. Maybe i am lucky to find people who i get along with well.

^^ Same here, although only 2 years.

I’ll be applying to Duke. I’d probably just go with random roomate unless one of my friends from my former high school also got in or w/e.

There is only one person who i know who is applying to duke and no one who is applying to columbia from my school.

No one from my school is thinking of applying anywhere upper tier except me. Most are either going to UHawaii, some community college, or getting a job. Around 4-5 might go to small schools in the mainland, and only 1 will be applying to the US Naval Academy (although he’s probably a lock for it).

ive heard many stories about how duke isn’t good at placing roommates for the random roomate thing…so i’m not sure.
