<p>I’ve been getting a lot of weird email from strange, ever-changing addresses for a while now that seems to hone in on words from CC discussions. Today I got a message that looks like someone subscribed me to something. I treat the stuff as spam. It’s different than some of the spam I’ve seen at other times.</p>
<p>Wondering if this is happening to others here, too. Is there anything more you would recommend I do about it?</p>

<p>perhaps by accident you did subscribe to one of the threads like I did. You can unsubscribe it in cc, if you know which one you are receiving. go to that thread click on “Thread Tools” and unsubscribe.</p>
<p>Artlovers, thanks for responding. It’s not a thread subscription. They’re ads for stuff, sometimes the same item repeatedly but from different long email addresses. It’s the changing email addresses that are particularly odd sometimes. I don’t know what to make of it. Maybe this is what phishing looks like? I don’t really know. It creeps me out because it feels like it’s being sent by somebody reading on this site, but maybe it’s some kind of cookie? I’m not a techie person – some basic computer competency, at best that’s about it.</p>

I get all kinds of ads on the Cc page, but I do not get emails except from the site administrators.
I also don’t check my spam folder.</p>
