Just for fun..since we're all waiting for decisions

I guess since we’re all hyped up waiting for decisions, let’s share what we know about ucsd! also this will help if u get admitted, so u get a heads up on things.

What have you guys “heard about” or “can confirm” about the each of the six colleges? social life/fun stuff to do…food…dorms…guys/girls…competativeness, etc. Bring forth any info you know no matter how weird/random it may be…as long as its clean… hahaa

good luck, everyone! :]

I heard that Roosevelt is bad bad bad bad bad bad if you don’t like writing…
tremendous general education requirements.
some twenty page freshmen research paper…

but…

good dorms.

I hear bioengineering is good. I have a good friend who goes there.

The forest of tall trees is haunted! :p

roosevelt has the best foreign policy program thats why i put that as my first choice…

i heard premed is competitive as hell

premed is competitive everywhere!

for sure…

yea but i think SD is especially bad since there are a lot of premeds and the everyone in the school studies all the time (so i hear). But i agree, premed is difficult everywhere

i hope ucsd isnt as boring as everyone says it is. i keep hearing bad stuff about ucsd. few good things i heard were good bio and ppl are laid back and beach

atlantiz - i’m just a little curious - what kind of bad things have you heard? what i mostly hear is that people tend to be studious and quiet, but otherwise friendly and laid back (provided they aren’t pre-anything!).

yeah i heard its a study school and most of the students are nerdy and study a lot and stuff
is that true?

and how hot are the chicas there?

Muir is my first choice college. Anybody got the dish on it?

erc has the nicest dorms, for sure since its the newest. yeah apparently theres no huge party scene at sd, but i think that if you go out one night to find a party, it shouldnt be too hard.

otherwise, the campus is beautiful and its a great science school! i’m soo nervous!!!

i’m so nervous!

I guess I’ll summarize the houses from what I’ve heard:

Revelle: most difficult GEs, housing sucks, lots of pre-meds, not that friendly. Only real thing going for it is its reputation.

Muir: easiest GEs. Most social dorm by far. Dorms are ok.

Marshall: (I chose this one) good balance of GEs, and they have a dimensions of culture requirement. Good dorms and good food.

ERC: Usually for writing and international studies majors. Writing GEs like crazy. Dorms are the nicest and I heard that it’s a high female/male ratio.

Warren: Sort of like Muir (pretty good dorms and food.) Very good for engineering majors, other majors not so much since they have to take a lot more GEs. Right next to Engineering building.

Sixth: I didn’t research this because I didn’t want to go to a college which was unnamed haha.

For the most part, I’ve heard that it is pretty boring and that people usually have fun going to SDSU on weekends. Fairly competitive, but an overall good school. I didn’t like the surroundings (boring town and I’m not much of a beach person) to be perfectly honest though.

I thought it was a beautiful campus. The Giesel library has 3 million books! And the ERC has the nicest food and there’s a cool Intl Center where you can eat ethnic food everyday and speak whatever language you have. UCSD has good graduation rates, job/internship plans, and shuttles that will take you anywhere in La Jolla, which is a nice town. This UC was my first choice…good luck to everyone!

What?! UCSD is a HUGE party school! The only downside is that it’s located in La Jolla. (veryyyyyyy rich area - $100M homes) The residents don’t like the loud party students. One of my good friends lives there and said that there is no other school he would rather go to than UCSD. That says a lot.

i have a friend in 6th, and he says that , if you don’t mind being in an unamed college (lol Rman3008, so rediculous) then it is definetily the best for eng. majors with warren, and its ecellent for tech stuff (internet hookups adn the like), and the dorms there aren’t anything special but their nice just cause its a relatively new building and all

and the fact that you can (Rman3008) want to have anything to do w/ cali schools and not like beaches is a bit depressing, unless its way inland like sacramento or something… it makes me :(

Oh, and my first choice was Thurgood Marshall; second was Eleanor Roosevelt. I heard that they are the best colleges for Political Science majors.
