yeah i know the drive is pretty long… i flew in to la and stayed there a few days before driving to slo, and i caught rush hour just as i left… that was fun. i just figure i’ll be going there for concerts and at least once to go to huntington beach (nppl huntington beach is there for a few days, pro paintball…) i was hoping train might be faster :)

Cal Poly is near the beach and being near the beach you will often have cloudy and overcast weather. It will be cold in the evenings. It won’t always be hot and sunny like the Carribean. :)

yeah i go to a lot of shows and concerts.
so my trips to pomona, ventura and east la will be frequent.
and my friend got into csu long beach. so i will be visiting often as well.

450 dollars though!?!? thats outrageous.

does anyone know how the amtrak works like to northern cal? i would need to take it to chico…

coming from chico… you’ll spend most of your ride on bus. i think it takes about 8 hours on train to slo from chico and you’ll spend about 4-5 of those hours on bus. You’ll first leave chico on a bus, then stop at a station somewhere to get on a train, then make another stop and take a bus the rest of the way to slo… most of the time.

oh okay.
that sounds like a nightmare haha
but good in a pinch.

I’m bringing my trusty old Saab too! And my bike of course. I think I’ll be heading north to SF more often than to LA. I really hope everyone on this site gets in so I can meet everyone! We should all have a bonfire one night at Pismo or something when we all get there (which we all will). ;)

ya jack, i’ve never taken the train to slo. i did take it from sac to san fran but that wasn’t that bad because i took the train most of the way… i think til oakland and then a bus to get to union plaza.

i soo agree about the bonfire! sounds like a great idea! and i think i might have to hitch some rides with you since i won’t be takin my jetta hah ;)

and about what collegemom16 mentioned about it not always being sunny… that’s true, but something wierd that i’ve noticed is that when it’s cloudy in slo, it’s sunny in pismo or visa versa. i don’t know… maybe it’s just me… but that always seems to happen when i’m there.

yeah, i think its because of how slo is inland more, and pismo is smackdab on the beach. so maybe that has something to do with it?

last time i went it was like gorgeous the day before, clear sunny, fairly mild.
the next day it was like SOOO windy, and cloudy and rainy and horrible. ahha
(i stayed in pismo)

maybe that’s why. i don’t really know. it’s kinda weird, but i love it!

yeah i am definitely bringing my car.
my friend got into csulb, and my other friend is going to ucsb, so i am gonna meet up with them often in santa barbara.

okay alsooooo,
as a half-danish person, i also have to recommend solvang as an interesting and unique danish community ahahaha

i haven’t been since i was like 7. it’s pretty much cool. i wanted to go last time i was in the area, but we were going to la, so we just wanted to get on the road.

solvang… hmm sounds interesting!

haha you’d probably think it’s either really cool, or realllyyyy freakin’ weird ahaha

hahaha well my family has a time share and i remember solvang being one of the choices. i’ve never actually been there, but the picture of the buildings were nice! hah

haha cool
yeah they have a lot of windmills and things…lol

yaa it seemed really cute and cozy! haha

i’m not sure i would like to live there though ahha.

it is fun to visit, but it is a little “snow white and the seven dwarves-ish”
haha

such good food though, i love danish food except like, ludafisk. hahah

hahaha you’re sooo right!! i was trying to think of the design and you got it… snow white!! haha

i don’t know if i’ve ever had danish food… but i’m interested. i really like trying different ethnic foods… although i’m super picky

if you don’t like fish, cheese, or anything pickled, then you probably won’t like danish food ahhaa
:]

herring is like the national dish. but it’s quite disgusting, and tastes like sardines.
ew.

hah yaa i’m not a big fan of fish or anything pickled. i like chesse… but still really picky about it.

i’m serbian and i hate all of the homemade cheeses! ughh it just smells bad to me hah
