I used to always have a pair of metallic sandals for summer. Sometime, years back, I stopped acquiring them. No idea why. Maybe this summer. Maybe silver.

I’ve been researching tennis shoes, trying to find good Made in America ones. Bought New Balance recently, made in Vietnam. Daughter got 2 pairs of Adidas made in Indonesia. Anyone have any Made in America suggestions for shoes?

SAS—San Antonio Shoe Company makes nice comfy shoes. Sadly they’re not “sexy” but neither is aching feet.

@ahl, I am guilty of buying some Jimmy Choos that I love. The Deedee 80 in rose gold. Not particularly new - last spring - but I love them! I hadn’t thought of Eileen Fisher for shoes - are their any you’re partial to?

EF was a new shoe idea for me. I bought a pair of sale Oxfords last fall and was amazed how cushioned and comfortable. Now of course on the email list… lol

Just got a pair of tan Earth shoes for my birthday. I’m thinking of combining them with some pink shoe laces. Any thoughts?

I worked at Thom McAn in high school. I love getting shoes, with comfort as a major factor. In recent years I’ve enjoyed the trend of wedge shoes.

Just got a pair of new Brooks sneakers.

My favorite pair are heels by Naughty Monkey. Not comfortable but so cool!

Most practical - Dansko clogs

Oldest - Sam Edelman suede ankle boots

Best memory - Red pointed toed kitten heel slides I bough in Spain.

@Bill Marsh Tan shoes and pink shoelaces–really? The answer is a polka dot vest and a big Panama with a purple hat band.

Really. No joke.

Do you think that package will work in 2020?

@BunsenBurner here…shoes!

Yay! I remember that store. Love wedge shoes, too. Back when I was a teen, I really, really wanted to get a pair of fashionable shoes - with heels. My mom caved in and let me get a pair of no-brand name, tweed wedge slip on sandals. I thought they were da bomb… like Chanel. ?

My husband said that he became worried about me because I have not bought a single pair of shoes in 2 months. Fixed that! Got a pair of AGL flats for myself and some slippers for him.

@alh - I have a pair of Eileen Fisher sandals. They served me well on the cobblestones of Stockholm.

European cobblestones are usually a summer consideration for me. What’s been working for a while is trippen, with their substantial rubber soles. I’ve been buying them at a small boutique, close to where we stay in the summer. They know me there. They say, “hi, you’re back… we have sale things upstairs and in the back. … just for you”… smile & eye roll

Oldest shoes?

My high school cowboy boots stay in a porch closet at a sister’s farm, so there’s something available for me to wear in the woods and pastures. Mud and snakes. And cows and horses. I don’t want to be packing them to bring back and forth.

My grandmother 's 1940s alligator pumps hold a place of honor in my shoe cupboard, and are occasionally worn on special occasions.

The very oldest: 1700s child’s shoe found under an upstairs floorboard in the old house where we raised our children. We pulled up the very wide board to run a wire, then learned concealed shoes were a common practice. They protect against witches and other evil spirits. We put it back. The next renovators are going to find a bunch of tiny Lego pieces under the floor as well. That’s just accidental.

Fifty plus years ago, spring of HS freshman year, I had blue suede Thom McCan wedges, with long straps that wrapped around my ankles.

For homecoming that year, brown knee high, lace up boots in the most gorgeous leather I’ve ever seen before or since. Purchased from a small local department store that disappeared decades ago. At the same time, I had bass weejuns, from a tiny preppy boutique, and pappaggalo flats from there as well.

fwiw-- I can member every outfit that went with every pair of shoes.
