Tomorrow is December 1, the deadline for many programs. I am curious how many schools the Class of 2013 will probably be applying to, and whether they’re acting or MT.

Our answer: 9 schools, all acting. May add 2 more with late deadlines.

At this point, 14 schools, all BFA. Most are auditioned, but some are non auditioned. Of course, my D is tech so audition is really interview/portfolio review.

There is one ED school.

Once we know the decision from that ED school, there may be an additional school added to the list. In that case, it would be a BA school, auditioned.

I know we could have cut back that list since she is tech, but (to be totally honest) the financial package will have a part in where she goes. (IF she is lucky enough to be accepted to the ED, then that will make this all much easier.)

My son’s doing 14 also. Two BA non-auditioned; two BFA non-auditioned; two BA auditioned; eight BFA auditions. We just arrived in Ithaca for audition #2 (tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.). It’s snowing–just a little–he’s very psyched! :)

Thanks, Shacherry–he just finished and thought it went well! Note to all: they asked him for a third monologue, and he had been working on a new Shakespeare one so decided to give them that (didn’t feel all the way ready, but it went okay). Students, definitely be sure to have at least one extra up your sleeves!

One more crossed off, Times3. Glad your boy is feeling confident - that will come thru during the audition, and bode well for him. I am actually glad you are getting a little of the cold, gray, winter weather - so he can see what it is really going to be like up there in the snow!!

Thanks, guys! 5boys: We toured the facility and wandered around campus on our own. Very different from other places we’ve been–not a classic college vibe but very cool, and my son loved it. (Even the chilly gray weather, Marbleheader!). VERY glad he auditioned on site. Current students were a big clue to the quality. Also, for those taking notes, the auditor did use a stop watch for the two required monologues, but then asked my son if he could do a third one, which was NOT timed. Overall, a great experience, and the group warm-up helped the kids feel relaxed with each other and was another window into the teaching style. :)
