Just thinking about the numbers

Hi. First I want to say that I am one of the CC ers that believes and trusts in the UVA review process, especially taking the time to read each and every application. I love the transparency that is provided by Dean J. But, I got to thinking last night about a review of approximately 17,000 EA apps taking until the end of January. So assuming the release date is the end of this week, all of the apps for EA ( approx 17,000) would have taken 3 months to review ( nov dec and January). So if UVA gets approx 32,000 ++ apps in total (I thought I read last year it was 36,000 in total), doesn’t that mean, let’s say they have approx 17,000 left to start reading ( regular decision) February and March. So how do they review all those in 2 months for regular decision (release decisions end of March), when the EA apps of approx the same number take 3 months??? I realize they could start reading in October for EA but this still makes the case worse for releasing so late in January. And then, are the regular apps given the same review? I am probably overthinking, but I thought a good discussion thread - for fun of course!!!
