Karaoke -- best songs for....

Lets have some fun…
If you could do a song —

What are the best songs if you are in your
30s
40s
50s
60s

If you have done karaoke…
which songs are best/easiest to pull off??

I have only done karaoke once in my life. My sister and I sang “Those Were the Days” by Mary Hopkin on a cruise a few years ago. Lots of fun and we were nervous but we actually got a very good response from the crowd.

I was a finalist in the Karaoke contest on our recent cruise! I sang two Linda Rondstadt tunes…and Petula Clark’s Downtown. Gotta say…the karaoke CDs they had were horrible!

“Love Me Tender,” “Scarborough Fair,” “You’ve Got A Friend,” and “My Favorite Things” are easy karaoke songs.

I like to sing “On My Own” until I got Les Mis fatigue from the movie musical.

Easy and doable are important…
and with a group of mixed ages, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s…better to be fun than pathetic

Our K1 did it on a cruise.

We have not done it ourselves and I have wondered…

The only karaoke song I have done is " Rockin in the Free World". Twice.
Although that was with live musicians at a club.
But it was easy to sing & a lotta fun!
The set list was limited, but if I could pick anything I would sing
(You make me feel like) a Natural Woman. Respect, or Elderly Woman behind the counter in a Small Town.

easiest to pull off: FEVER ala Peggy Lee.

<a href=“- YouTube”>www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eIDtwcFXcI

and it’s on every Karaoke list that ever was

D always says…“oh the best part of ANY karaoke night is when the angry drunk woman gets up and sings “I Will Survive””
“I Will Survive” (best done when one is angry and inebriated)

Do you go out for karaoke night or do you have a karaoke machine at home and invite people in?

The most enjoyable karaoke for me are the people in the middle. The individual or ones getting a group together to just have some fun. Can at least carry a tune. One of the ones I remember best was 4 young women on a cruise that had recently graduated from UNC and sang Goin to Carolina in my Mind. The singing was not perfect but it was very emotional. The ones that get into the contests are almost professionals and the ones without any talent at all (especially if they pick a bad song) are actually painful to watch.

I always have wanted to sing “Crazy” by Patsy Cline. On our one and only cruise, my husband discouraged me. What a party pooper.

MD Mom,I love Crazy (very popular with karaoke) and if you could have knocked it out of the park that would have been great. Next time, go with your gut and don’t let your husband sway you if you truly think you should get up and sing. No regrets then!

I should make him get up and sing “I Got You, Babe” Sonny and Cher style. Now that would be entertaining.

One of my kids observed that all of my CDs in the car are singers with deep voices. I told her that I always bought artists with songs I could sing along with.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Only karaoke song I’ve ever done. Lots of fun wailing those ooos.

I can’t sing, but this thread made me think of Bill Murray in “Lost in Translation” singing
Roxy Music’s “More Than This” (drunk, off-key, but touching).

I’ve been to one Karaoke party–about 10 years ago. Most memorable performance was a young, Asian guy singing “Like a Virgin”–so horrible it was hilarious. H (a good singer) sang Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.

Easiest to pull off are songs within your range. Karaoke is a lot about confidence, so make sure you know the words and try to give people a show.

Best karaoke song for clearing out a room: All by myself (Celine Dion version).
