The only vanilla ice cream I eat is the homemade version my FIL makes. I say “he” makes it because he bought a motorized ice cream maker about 15 years ago. During the 15 years prior he and I took turns cranking the old ice cream maker for what always seemed like an eternity.

I think the very best ice cream I’ve ever had is my Dad’s homemade vanilla made in a hand cranked ice cream maker. My mom used to make the ice cream from my Dad’s aunt’s recipe and we would help him churn it. Nothing quite like it!

I don’t like ice cream (I know, crazy right? I think it’s for the same reason I don’t like soup…I want to chew my food). But I love frozen bananas with chocolate. I am of the belief that I personally keep Diana’s Bananas in business!

My 8 year old son and I have completely different frozen treat preferences! He’s all about those character popsicles with gumball eyes and cotton candy ice cream with as many rainbow sprinkles as possible. Meanwhile, I’m firmly in the adult camp with a love for good quality coffee ice cream or sea salt caramel gelato.
The funny thing is, I’ve noticed him recently eyeing my ‘boring grown-up flavors’ with curiosity. I caught him sneaking a spoonful of my pistachio last week and his expression was priceless - somewhere between confusion and revelation! Anyone else notice their kids’ tastes starting to evolve?

The private collection looks to be Kroger brand (Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Harris Teeter, etc)
Tried the Chambord Hummer this weekend and enjoyed it! Passed the recipe on to a friend who also gave it high marks. (Now what to do with the rest of the bottle…?)

Vacarro’s Italian pastry shop in Little Italy Baltimore has something - Maybe they call it a French Kiss. It’s lemon sorbet with Chambord poured over it. It’s very good. ETA - or maybe it’s lemon Italian ice. I can’t quite remember, but either would be good.

My son-in-law oven ice cream. This weekend we watched the grandkids and they brought us a pint of one of the McConnells See’s candy special flavors.
