Sounds like a typical teenager to me.

We just spent four days with son in an unfamiliar city, driving the route to his new job, practicing parking, locating the local bank, grocery store, and church.

Yet, this morning, a half hour before he was supposed to start work, which is a half hour drive away, he calls, asking us how to get to work.

Head slap. What have we been doing for the last four days?

Like I said, plenty experts dismissed my/husbands earlier concerns about our son. I listened to them, thinking they knew better. Boy do I regret it now. I could have saved us – and more importantly, HIM – years of anxiety, stress and disappointment.

Having a kid tested doesn’t mean you’re going to put him on meds. It means you have at least an answer - or a worrysome possibility to cross off your list. Either I think is worth pursuing if a child’s parent’s gut says ‘something’s not right.’

What I like about this parent’s board is that when a parent writes with a concern, he or she can expect to get a range of opinions from other parents. Then they can take what fits, and leave the rest.
I hope that the OP was satisfied that she was heard, and had some suggestions she could consider. That’s what the Parent’s Board and Parent’s Cafe is for.

I also enjoyed silversea’s response, and thought there was interesting information in every response. I hope the OP and her son are doing well.

Sorry to hear about Levine. Very sad, if true.
