Anybody you know getting into good colleges with what you thought were terrible stats?
It’s hard to judge this because even though someone might have “terrible” stats (one of my friends had about a 30 ACT and mostly B’s) they have other things going for them, intangible things that the college sees (he is going to one of the more selective LACs in the country.)
Sometimes students will lie and say they have lower stats than they actually have. This may be to avoid being bullied by jealous students.
You may not know about the extracurriculars that your peer has done that may make them appealing to the college.
