I have never noticed a do it yourself gift wrap! Is that at all BBB’s???
I find the Kohl’s cash frustrating. I like getting it, but it’s just another things I have to deal with, and remember to use. It would be helpful if it were good longer…such small windows of opportunity! I know that is to get you back in the store, but still. CVS has had a similar program with cvs bucks and coupons. They now send you the coupon in an email and you can send it to your cvs card so it is automatically applied when you shop again. It would be nice if Kohls adopted something like that with their Kohls cash. They could even just do it to their Kohls charge card as incentive to have and use that card.
Also agree with @parentofpeople, that is can be frustrating to know that they are just playing with the pricing. That’s why they have those electronic prices labels in the store. They can change them easily. I went one day and bought some earrings, went 2 days later thinking of getting another pair, and they were priced much higher…I guess to balance out whatever sale was going on.
My BBB wraps gifts for free…and they do the wrapping. No DIU. You get the choice of bag or box wrapping. They usually have a couple of different papers, and the purple BBB ribbon.
Kohl cash has always had an expiration date, that’s not new. Maybe its just the “brand” name stuff like fitbit?
I go in when I get a 30% off coupon just to browse and maybe get a deal. There are three Kohl’s in three different directions. Actually four, but one is in Cook County so there’s an extra 1% sales tax at that location.
I only buy stuff that’s already marked down so the pricing never bothers me. I like the fact that if they’re out of your size, you can order free delivery via the store kiosk and get the right size delivered to your home. I’ve done that with shoes a couple of times and have been satisfied.
Kohls has started a rewards program - Yes2You Rewards. The rewards come via email and are good for one month. I signed up in the store the first day it began and have received a couple of rewards.
ZBD, there’s always been an expiration date, but it was for show. Stores would take the Kohl’s Cash after the expiration date. Not anymore.
I mentioned in my previous post that I shopped at Kohls a lot for mostly clearance items, with additional % off, can find some good bargains at times. I don’t spend too much money there (or anywhere for that matter), not a MVC member (have to spend $600 a year to qualify) I usually get the 30% coupon around the holiday time, 15% or 20% for most part of the year. For some reasons, I got a 30% off early February, and I just received another 30% off this morning, together with a $5.00 gift card with no additional purchased required.
I am not a big spender and am surprised I am getting it. Maybe their business has slowed and they start sending all these promotions to everyone to get them into the stores?
I wouldn’t be surprised if their business started dropping off. I shopped there all the time. Second only to Amazon. But now I only go for the clearance items for children’s clothes. Even mad that I wanted to buy a cute Nike outfit, but no coupons allowed on that. I’m sure I will no longer be an MVC member this year.
I used to go to Kohls for name-brand things on sale with a coupon, but a few years ago I suspected that at least some of their name-brand clothes are made specifically for Kohls and to a lesser quality standard. Particularly the women’s Nike apparel seemed cheaply made (poor stitching, different fabric) compared to what I would find at a specialty sporting goods store like DIck’s.
Hadn’t noticed this thread before. Yesterday I stopped by Kohl’s to get some Keurig k cups because they were on sale and I had 30% off. Nope. Apparently as of Jan, no consumables or Nike products are covered under the % off deal. Phooewy. I told them no thanks and left.
I often wondered how they could make a profit with all the discounts and coupons they offered. Their original prices are inflated and many of their store brand things are cheaply made but they still had great bargains.
I assume that people often stopped in for the name brand bargains and impulse purchased things that were still inexpensive but had higher profit margins. I wonder how this new policy has effected their earnings.
The figured that people wouldn’t notice the exclusions and would say “wow, that is a great price” kind of thing, people see 50% off and say “wow”…Places like Kohls assume people get the coupon in the mail or online, and then won’t go to the store, see what they have, see what the price is with the card, then compare it to other places, they will say “wow, that top is regularly 50 bucks, I can get it for 30” (meanwhile, you might be able to get that top at another store for 30 bucks regularly). The discount card itself is a kind of loss leader, they figure you will go to the store, assuming great bargains, may get some “50% off” deals, but then will buy other things at full cost (kind of like the poster above, who didn’t buy the K cups; but someone else might say “oh, well, I need them” and pay full price).
It is why marketing people are looked at askance in most quarters, including people who work at the same companies, it feels like a large part of marketing is the science of screwing people over but making them feel like they have been treated like a king.
The last 2-3 times I’ve gone into Kohl’s (usually to buy only 1 or 2 things), the lines have been so long that I just gave up and left. It’s not like there was a ton of people there, they just seem to be perpetually understaffed.
They also screwed up a return on something I had to order at their kiosk b/c they didnt have them even though the website said they were in stock. They gave me some double talk, but it didnt add up. I now only buy stuff there on clearance and with coupons , like winter gloves for my s so I dont get mad when he loses them in record time.
I posted this in the “Good Buy” thread where everyone was talking about Kohl’s but just noticed this thread so I’ll post my comments here as well:
I have to wonder if Kohl’s stock/quality has changed over the years. It seems like our family, that many of you USED to shop there - or shop there for more - but now buy their infrequently. Did our tastes change or did Kohl’s stock??? I remember a time when we would get a bill from them monthly - meaning I had shopped there at least once a month - I haven’t stepped foot in one more than once or twice the last year - and probably walked out with practically nothing.
Personally, I haven’t been shopping anywhere much for clothes. We’ve all stopped growing and none of our kids live at home. Strangely, the boys (in their twenties now) have full drawers of t-shirts here, at home, where they don’t live!
I asked my kid the same question, abasket. She says…the merchandise has changed. She used to get all of her jeans there…but not anymore. And she says the quality is just plain junk now. And I agree with her.
At this point, the only thing I buy at Kohls is clearance baby clothes for gifts. They have nice baby clothes.
The last few times I’ve been in our store, it was almost empty.
I saw on FB today that Kohl’s is having a promo that if you “like” and post that on your page you will receive a 50% off everything coupon. For some reason I’m having trouble believing this is true. Has anyone tried it. I really don’t like posting that stuff on my page but for 50% off at Christmas time I may make an exception.
I do none of that promo stuff on FB. Not worth the risk and I don’t want to be a FB pawn for a business as huge as Kohl’s!!!
I just checked Snopes. com. They posted this as a scam in Oct. of last year. I see that I friend of mine already posted it to FB. I’ll check with her to see what happens.
