I did stop watching during the meltdown, but I only watch to see Jon Cryer, who is genius. Whoever plays Charlie to me is just a foil for JC anyways. But isn’t Kutcher the completely the wrong generation to be playing a dissolute middle-aged playboy? Having a middle-aged wife in real life doesn’t count.

I was momentarily intrigued when they said the Hugh Grant was being considered for the role (but turned it down). It now just kinda gives me a big yawn.

Hugh Grant on my TV every week! That would have been nice. Sorry he turned it down. :(

Though Jon Cryer is a great comic actor and I’m fond of Angus T. Jones from his days as a young kid actor, I find the show hard to watch. I love the actresses on the show - Conchata Ferrell and Holland Taylor are pretty genius themselves - but the endless bimbo parade and unvaryingly cheap sex jokes turn me off. It would be nice if Ashton Kutcher’s presence inspired the writers.

Are they looking for a younger audience? I don’t get Kutcher on this show. I am with jym. I was intrigued by Hugh Grant. Now, I have lost interest. The only spark in my mind is how they will script Charlie Harper’s departure. How will they possible explain a new character moving into Charlie’s house??? I think we might all tune in once to see how they explain away the changes, and then tune it out.

Maybe, like Dallas, it will all be a dream. Alan will wake up and finally be the successful brother. He will run a huge successful chiro practice, be married to a gorgeous wife, his son will be popular and smart…

Maybe Kutcher’s going to be the product of a dalliance by sleazy mama Eleanor, so a half-brother for Alan. Or wait, how about an unbeknownst till now, an actual son of Charlie’s. He was supposed to be, let’s say mid-40’s? It’s entirely possible he could have had a 20- something kid, considering how early in life he must have started who-ing around!

Maybe Alan and his son will be the heirs to Charlie’s estate. He will have the house and riches he thought brought Charlie the women. And then the Kutcher character shows up and gets all the women and Alan is still the loser.

I’ll still watch. (I have no life.) I absolutely love the show – because of Jon Cryer, Conchita Ferrell, and Holland Taylor. I always sort of tolerated Charlie Sheen anyway. And the Rose character – I apologize for not knowing her name.

I don’t think they’re going to get it, kutcher or no. I have been liking his work more and more lately and am really apprehensive about this decision, hope it works out. I am not a regular watcher of the show but I’ve seen it a couple times and I’ll probably watch it once just to see what on earth ashton is doing there.

Every time I watched the show, it just struck me as an “eh” sitcom based on boobie jokes. I didn’t have any idea it was such a top rated show till all the Sheen stuff came out. It certainly isn’t as well written as other top sitcoms over the years like Cheers or Friends or Seinfeld.

I agree that I don’t get the appeal of the show. I don’t think I have ever been able to watch one episode all the way through. Maybe they will soften it a bit and it won’t be as offensive with Ashton. Also agree that Big Bang Theory is a much smarter show.
