Lack of sleep

What are the results of not getting enough sleep? I have a friend who likes to watch movies and study at the same time and she gets about 2-4 hours a night! Crazy! In the morning she drinks lots of coffee. I’m worried about her…

The results of not getting enough sleep is lowering your life span. lol Ok I’m kidding, I don’t really know if that’s true.

But I do know coffee isn’t good to keep consuming; too much caffeine isn’t good.

She can do whatever she wants, life is too short to live with regret…likewise…too much sleeping? lol

Well, most importantly, how does she react to her crazy habits? If she can focus in class, sports, etc during the day just fine, then don’t worry about it (for now, at least, though she might run into trouble some years later!) but if she’s very tired, well then obviously the sooner changes are made, the better.

geesh- 2 hours! The reason I would only get 2 hours is if I was writing a paper or studying for a huge test. I think it’s a bad idea to watch movies AND study, especially if it seriously cuts into her sleeping time… save movies for the weekend.

Her grades are slightly lower than mine, but I say that I’m impressed!! She LOVES movies. She also is a HUGE fan of audrey hepburn. I have noticed that she is easily distracted and will begin to talk about her or other actresses sometimes.

if she can pull it off most of the time then i dont see how its a problem (unless she is seriously tired and the only reason she can stay up during school is by drinking coffee). although i really can’t see how thats not gonna catch up to her someday. does she completely crash during the weekend, like sleep 16 hours or something?

Many believe that abundant sleep, along w/ regular exercise and low calorie intake, are the means to living a long life. Although she may be too young to care.

As someone who gets 3-4 hours a night on average, I can tell you that it ****s up your entire system. Your concentration is lowered, you get sick more often and for longer, you often can’t stay awake in the evening, your eating schedule gets messed up, you gain or lose weight, bruises and scrapes take longer to heal… it just isn’t a good way to live, especially for us teenagers.

But yeah. It’s a hard habit to break.

gain weight, prone to emotional extremes, get sick more often, can cause back pain

It isn’t so bad for a couples days in a row…

After like 3 months it’ll wear on you.

Wow, I’ll realy have to tell her about this. Because she’s been doing this sinse she came to my school this year. So…it’s been quite awhile! Thank you everyone

everyone needs their beauty sleep :)

that’s BS if you only slept 2 hours for months straight you’d be dead.

^She could get more sleep on weekends and vacations and stuff.

But yeah, lack of sleep can only harm. My bf has trouble sleeping and relies on coffee more than I think is entirely wise. He’ll go 2-3 days without any sleep and then get like 3 hours of sleep, which he claims is even worse, and crash for 8 hours every so often. It can only hurt you.

Sleep? You people actually sleep? I rather consume that time studying for my SAT’s or reviewing my courses, haha. I mean come on, theres plenty of time to sleep when your dead.

Getting regular sleep is highly important to one’s fitness (and their memory, and their alertness, and their overall well-being)

Although if I were to lecture on sleep that would make me a hypocrite.

2 hours = 8 hours.
