I use Oil of Olay regenerist products. I agree with the Retin-A recommendation - it really does work, although it’s tough for those with already dry skin.

I found Retin-A sort of traumatic to use. I felt like my skin was disintegrating.

I use Tensage undereye and face a.m. and pm. My derm recommended it and its been really good. Starts the skin cells going again. You’ll laugh but its made of snail poop extract!! (smells neutral and is white). I also do Juvederm from nose to mouth corners. I’m 56 but people mistake me on a regular basis for being in my mid 40’s. I credit the Juvederm for that.

I have combination skin. Its very dry after washing then then oily by afternoon. I wash with Neutrogina facial cleanser and currently use Timewise moisturizer from Mary Kay. I’m not sure I’ll be buying it again and would like a heavier moisturizer for the fall weather when my skin gets drier.

I love using Philosophy’s microdelivery peel. It’s easy to use and my face feels great afterwards.

Does anyone use a product to lighten dark spots? I have some on my neck and the left side of my face. Probably from facing the car window while driving and being careless about daily sunblock. I want a product that actually works, even if it is a bit pricey.

Obagi NuDerm Systems. I used it for over 3 years before and it really works getting rid of fine lines and melasma (hyperpigmentation). It’s time consuming but it did the trick. You have to be patient with it because your face will peel and gets blotchy for a while. But it is worth it. Even my D’s peers told her how nice my skin looks.

I have been using it on and off for several years for maintenance.

I use a homemade cleanser of olive oil and an emulsifier, like peg 7 (?). It is better than most cleansers I find for sale. It takes layers of sunscreen off with no residue.

For moisturizer I use Cerave - that stuff is non- greasy. When I had eye surgery - the surgeon asked me what I used as he couldn’t get it off. I supposed that means the lotion stays on very well and form a good protective barrier.

I also use a homemade version of Cellex C - vitamin C is supposedly a very good antiaging agent but the product is very expensive. I like it that it was developed at the University of Wisconsin.

For exfoliation I take 2/3 aspirins and crush it and mix it in some aloe and put it on my face.

For sunscreens I like ones that contain Tinosorb - specifically targeting UVA and best of all - stable.

I have had good results using just Neutrogena Dry Touch sun screen, any of the SPFs. I find the texture of my skin much improved, and the Neutrogena also seems to fade dark spots (I use it on the backs of my hands too). It’s inexpensive and available everywhere, and my derm recommended it.

I use Retin A (at night), Dr. Perricone (day moisturizer/foundation w/ SPF 30, eye concealer tx with SPF 35 --expensive, but worth every cent!) , and I exfoliate a couple times per week with Dr. Wexler. I also really like Kinerase products. If I need to use sunscreen at the beach or pool, then I use Neutragena products (Helioplex and full spectrum SPF), and very inexpensive.

I try to keep things simple so I use the same two products morning and night, Regenerist Regenerating Cream Cleanser (a creamy exfoliant), and Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, which is light and non-greasy. I love the way it makes my skin feel so soft.

Another fan of prescription Retin A cream here. I used the OTC products (usually ROC brand) with noticeable results for several years. Hit a plateau as I hit the middle of a certain decade and switched to the more efficacious script version. It was not hard for my sensitive skin to make the shift, as it was used to the other products with less Retin A. There are ways to slowly get acclimated and minimize angry skin when starting Retin A, though some people just can’t tolerate it. It also requires ongoing use to sustain any results and I wonder if long term application has any down-sides. Friends have expressed concerns about cost, but I think it is comparable to the other products as it lasts for a very long time. The lines around my mouth are much less deep and I have very few fine lines. I apply moisturizer and sunscreen every morning. That said, genetics and sun exposure plays a big role here.

The new cosmetics thread reminded me to resurrect this one. I had posted looking for a dark spot fade cream and wanted to check back in on what I found.
I ended up investing in the Clinique Dark Spot Corrector. After using it twice a day on the problem areas I started noticing improvement in some areas after about three weeks. I use it on dark spots on my face, neck and some very dark burn scars on my inner arm. The spots on my face are all but gone completely! The ones on my neck have faded a bit but are still there. The burn marks have faded about 80%. All in all a very successful experiment.

What’s interesting is that the spots that have not faded quite as well (on my neck) were not as dark to begin with as some of the ones that have completely disappeared. I guess a lot depends on what kind of spot it is, how deep it is, etc.
I am on my second bottle of the serum. It costs about 78 dollars at Sephora and a bottle lasts about 4 months for me. I use it VERY sparingly. I have also started using the Clinique dark spot corrector foundation makeup and love it to cover the areas that are still discolored a bit.

Unfortunately I seem to have developed some sort of intolerance to moisturizers, foundations and other facial care products. It must be an ingredient in them because it causes my eyes to become red and my vision becomes blurry. As a result I have had to forgo using these products. I only wear them when I’m going out for a special occasion. Bummer.

I wash with either a small bit of homemade (fatty) soap, or a moisturizing Olay bar and a washcloth. I still use Oil of Olay face lotion SPF 15 every single day, without fail. I have Finacea cream for rosacia. Sometimes I use a drop of Clinique’s Age Defying goop at night. Foundation is a few drops of Clinique balanced makeup, if I am wearing any.

Anyone tried Nerium night cream? It’s a multi-level marketing deal, but I tried some because my hair gal was selling it. I like it a lot, but it’s quite expensive and I don’t want to lock into the deal where it arrives (expensively) every month. It’s thick and has a smell that I like a lot but other reviewers seem to hate.

My favorite product these days is RoC Retinol Deep Wrinkle Filler. There was a noticeable improvement in the wrinkles on my forehead and between my eyebrows after just a few weeks. I love, love, love it and use it every night. I’m also a big fan of the Regenerist MicroSculpting Cream and when I want just a light moisturizer, I will use Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar.

Best moisturizer I have ever used…Garnier

[Nutritioniste Ultra-Lift Intense Deep Wrinkle Day Cream SPF 30 - Garnier](http://www.garnier.ca/_en/_ca/skincare/sc-nutritioniste-ultra-lift/deep-wrinkle-cream.htm)

I use Mary Kay creme make up. I get a lot of compliments from the younger women I work with.

I look up products in Beautypedia or MakeupAlley.

I use Retin A (prescription) and think it makes a difference. Best thing I found for brown spots is laser treatment–expensive but it was like magic. (Poof-- spots are gone!) I love skin products and I’m always trying new ones. Recently went to a spa (birthday gift) and bought a new face wash and moisturizing cream by Sisley. Loved them.

I’m becoming convinced that how old one looks is as much a function of genetics as skin care products–although I still keep looking for the magic bullet.
