Ladies.......long hair or short?

And why?
Let’s just get it out of the way…why is this a thread?

Long! No real reason - just like it. Plus, no upkeep or styling - just wash, brush, and go for me

Long now, but it’s short sometimes…and in the middle sometimes.

I like longer for the summer so I can pull it up into a bun or pony tail. I like chin length most of the rest of the time.

My hair is too frowsie to wear short.

My hair is almost to my shoulders and I have no plans to go any shorter. Several years ago I tried a short cut which turned out to be a big mistake. My hair is very thick and actually stuck out in multiple directions. I could not grow it out fast enough!

Last September we went to Europe and there were no hair dryers where we stayed at multiple places along the way. I guess we went low cost but they were not that low cost. I decided that i would for the first time in my life go short. I thought about the camping trips I also want to take soon on retirement too. Well, I went short and love it. I though my hair was too thin and no body and my face was not pretty enough to do it. Wrong. It brought out the body of hair I never knew I had, it looks thicker, and my face looks actually cuter (less drawn out). I did change my makeup only slightly with more eye mascara on the top and bottom. It has messy look with bangs.

Are you asking how we wear our hair, or what we prefer generally speaking?
Medium? I think after a certain point, almost nobody looks good with long hair. I’ve lost a significant amount of my once thick and wavy hair. But I don’t think I look good in short hair unless I’m very thin.

Short for me- really short. It’s what works for me and I love the convenience.

I’m a long-haired person. I tried a short cut once at 5 years old and loved it for one day, then again at 38 and loved it for a week. I am truly meant to be a long-haired person, just as I’m meant to be pear-shaped and right-handed. I will be the 80 year old with long hair. Dyed brown.

I used to have really long hair (3 feet or so) which was kept braided for safety reasons: loose long hair catches fire easily, just ask my HS chemistry teacher. Then I got tired of it and chopped it off - right before the company Christmas party. Some coworkers did not recognize me! Since I cannot wear it really short (does not work well for round-facers), I keep it just long enough for a ponytail - to keep it out of my face during running.

Medium long, so I can pull into pony tail for gym, and half up for work. Mine is inbetween wavy and straight, so I either twirl for wavy, or flat iron for straight. Easy is my motif. If my hair was short, or above shoulder length, I’d have to set it. I have many barrettes, from turquoise to pearls to swearsKI , leather, so I can pull back while looking pulled together.

I have very thick, curly hair and currently wear it short. I have had it longer but as I approach 60 I feel the shorter cut is more flattering. When it was longer it seems like I always had it up anyway.

The frizz factor keeps mine just below my shoulders. I probably would look ok in short hair but haven’t done that since 1st grade. I think it needs weight and length to keep it under control with my trusty flat iron. Pony tail holders are always on my car stick shift and on my wrist in the summer months so I don’t get caught looking like I stuck my finger in a light socket. I have hair that was meant to live in California. It always looks so good when I’m there!

" I have hair that was meant to live in California. It always looks so good when I’m there!"

Mine really liked HI!!

Remember that thread about what were you doing 35 years ago? I think my hair has been in more or less the same short style since then (which is really, really boring, but then again so is my fine, lack of body hair). I actually was toying with growing it out just recently because my schedule would have accommodated the awkward phase, but I just couldn’t stand it.

My neighbor still wears her hair long and it looks good on her, but I know many people who choose to go shorter as they mature. In fact, I have a friend who noted an elderly relative’s decision to grow out her hair as evidence of incapacity!

When I go gray, I will grow my braid back and get a motorcycle. B-)

Shoulder length and graying. can’t ever see it any shorter than it is.

I’ve always had it long. I donate it every two years or so. It’s currently down to my waist. I’m going to chop it off after the wedding. I want short hair for once.

Short- long hair takes too long to dry, gets in the way, doesn’t go with my long face, perfectly straight and so won’t stay in any holders… But- no layers so the underneath hair that has become white (blondes don’t go gray- need darker hair for that) doesn’t show. Never color it. Last loose perm was over 30 years ago. Practical.

Short hair for me because it dries after and requires less shampoo. I can wash and where easily, no blow drying. Besides it’s too hot with long hair. My husband likes me better with short hair.

Do you on-the-fence people really believe in ANYTHING???
