Ladies.......long hair or short?

I should say that I let my hair air dry. I don’t even own a blow dryer. It is rarely an issue for me (getting in the way). Up in a bun and away we go!

I think I look better with short hair, but dh likes it long and I like sticking it in a ponytail or bun in the summer. Last year it was really long (hippie Halloween costume) and then I chopped it off to medium - not quite pony tail length. I can just about do the pony tail now so I don’t think I’ll get a trim till the fall.

My hair is fairly short. Above my shoulders. It will get shorter as I age. My Mom somehow ingrained in me that older women should have short hair or, if longer, should be put up or back. And I am actually looking forward to the day I go short and no longer dye. It will be freeing. I will also look much older. People never believe my age now with my a bit longer dyed hair.

I have to admit that when I see women in their late 60’s and older with long hair hanging down, they look, in my opinion much older and in some cases, like the stereotypical witch. Haha

I just think that long hair on older women is not flattering in most cases.

Am I the only one with salon phobia? I hate getting my hair cut - I don’t know what I want or how to describe it. I get mine cut about every 8 or 9 months into a shoulder length bob because I don’t know what else to do.

This is random, but generally I heard guys find girls with longer hair more attractive. Anyway, I prefer longer hair because you have more options to style your hair, although it’s a pain in the morning to brush it.

I am a guy and I find girls with longer hair more attractive. Doesn’t have to be to the waist.

As someone with to-the-waist hair, I don’t recommend it. It can be a PITA. I am lucky in that I have very manageable hair. Takes me about 15 seconds to brush it. The only reason I grow it this long is so I can donate it.

@romanigypsyeyes that’s very nice of you to donate your hair! I also heard that trimming your hair once in a while keeps it healthy (:

For many years I had a chin length bob that looked pretty good. Not too hard to take cre of but I got tired of having a face full of hair every time I looked down, or was in a high wind. I wasn’t about to cut bangs so I got it all cut off. Love it.

Mine varies between chin length and shoulder length. Is that medium?

I had long hair throughout childhood and through my twenties.

I trim my own hair every few months. Luckily, it’s rarely down so if I do a crappy job- no one notices

I too trim my own hair  and do air-drying only - don’t own a hair dryer!

the longest I’ve ever had my hair was just to my shoulders, but once I overcame the trauma of horrible childhood hair styles, I acknowledged that I actually like my hair short.
It gets wavier when it is longer, but I don’t like ponytails, and I don’t like it in my face.
H on the other hand likes long hair, so * he* wears the ponytail!

I also trim my own hair and air dry. I have it cut by someone about once a year.

Cannot wear my very curly very frizzy hair short. It would be one big frizz ball. I wear it in a chin length bob except in the summer when I let grow about two inches longer - but still shorter than shoulder length - so I can pull it back when I play tennis in the heat.

I suppose the question is, what’s short, medium and long? Is shoulder length medium or long? I’m past needing a haircut right now. I can tell by how I start wearing my hair up. Mine is several inches past my shoulder with long layers and side bangs.

When is too old to have longer hair?

Short. I always wished for long hair. I have a small face and tons of hair, i can never get it to grow out and it look terrible.

I have long hair envy. Good thing my H loves me no matter the length of my hair.

My D grows out her hair and donates it also.

My hair has generally run from shoulder length to somewhat longer. I had one bad stretch of shorter layers (oh, eighties…) but I got over it.

I also don’t own a hairdryer (well, that’s not strictly true. We do have an old one around for emergency thawing of frozen pipes.)

It’s really no trouble–I get it cut 2 or 3 times a year; if it’s in the way, I tie it back.

I think older women with long hair look great!

How old does a gal have to be before she is an “older woman”?

A stylist told me that longer hair helps make you look younger.
