I think I’d like to buy some period panties for my D and some nieces and am not familiar with the different brands and which are worth buying. Anyone with thoughts and experiences with underwear for “that time of the month”? I sure wish they had been around when I was younger–ruined a lot of nice clothing over they years with stains (not to mention embarrassment).
At the moment, I’m leaning toward Dear Kate and Anigan and Adira, but have no personal experience with any of these. Thanks! This is time sensitive, since I need to order soon for Christmas or sooner delivery. I’m not a fan of Thinx, tho they are marketing geniuses–I don’t like their tactics much.
Actually, depending on the individual and flow, I believe some folks use them “free flowing” (at least some of the reviewers I read said that was how they wore them). As with so much in life, “it depends.” I sure wish it existed a few decades ago and attractive styles as well!
Well, I can see I’m completely behind the times. I never even knew such a thing existed. Using an appropriately absorbent tampon and changing it reasonably often, I can’t recall ever having ruined any clothing or embarrassed myself, but I guess these would be useful for someone with an unusually heavy flow. Pricey thought!
Yes, I’ve been doing some research on this. Thanks @calmom, I did read that and other articles. I had VERY heavy flows, as did my sisters. D also worries about leaks and accidents and stains clothing and bedding more than any of us care to recall. This would have made a huge improvement in our lives. I understand they’ve been available in Japan for some time now.
I seriously doubt that my 20 somethings would want this as a holiday gift. With so many other options, honestly, I think a personal care hygiene item just isn’t a good choice.
Would you send them a box of tampons as a holiday gift? If not, please rethink this.
My BFF, who works at large land grant university, swears by them after learning of them from her students. She wears the Thinx brand. (She gave me a pair on a recent visit that I haven’t tried yet). Maybe give everyone one pair as a stocking stuffer item?
You’re kidding, right? I mean there’s nothing wrong with the product, but I have to agree with VeryHappy and Thumper – an intimate personal hygiene item for a Christmas present is just downright strange.
My kids find it odd enough that their Grandma puts toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and such in their stockings - although now that they’re college students and buying these things themselves they look at it differently!
This is becoming popular among friends but I agree it’s not something they’d necessarily want to open in front of people.
I was very skeptical but the free flowing ones have recieved rave reviews.
And for those of you who have never ruined something, consider yourselves lucky. I would’ve loved these as a teen when I was still menstruating and had highly irregular cycles.
I might buy a couple pairs for my own Ds after discussing it with them. And I’d keep it out of the Xmas gift pile to unwrap. Although I did give D1 some “big girl” Disney character underwear for Christmas at age 3 with a note from Santa that he hoped it would help with her potty training. I have an excellent photo of her proudly modeling them, too.
