Ever since I went to the dermatologist for a cancer check & the receptionist thought I was there for Botox, Ive been wondering if I should get my 11 lines done again.

Maybe botox, plastic surgery and makeup? You know it’s not just good skin cream!
There are so many products out there, plenty of things that people like, from inexpensive to crazy expensive.
However, how can one know what will actually work for them, without trying fifty different products and spending a ton of money? Someone else might have great genes, and any product would work for them. Someone else may have gained weight, therefore less wrinkles.
I would like to know if there is someone here that has genetics working against them, wrinkles far too easily, and has found a product that definitely helps (and is hopefully not very expensive). I asked my sis how come we have the same genetics and she has very few wrinkles, she laughed and said, “Gain a lot of weight and you won’t have many wrinkles, either!”
I know the only things that have ever been effective for me have been avoiding soap cleansers, using sunscreen, and getting alpha hydroxy chemical peels. Microcurrent helps a little
Bus, to be totally honest I don’t think any of it works. Women like to buy cosmetic products period.IMO.
Nooooo!! I hate buying cosmetic products. I just want something cheap that actually works. Not on people that have good genes, but on people that don’t. I have heard that Retin A is virtually the only thing that actually does work, besides just keeping ones skin moisturized.
My sister didn’t start taking care of her skin until 5 years ago. She just used whatever was in the drugstore. Then my mom started nagging at her, and her friends meeting me for the first time would mistakenly think I was the younger sister, so she started to use better cream and getting facials. Her face has fewer wrinkles and more of a glow to it. I do think good facial products work.
I don’t have acne, but after researching formulations, I am trying this after I wash my face & before I use serums & stuff. It seems to help them penetrate deeper.

I tried retin a, but it looks like I’m allergic to it, and because it messed with my eyelids (I did not put it near my eyes), I feel like I look older than ever… i can’t decide whether I should try it again or not. I Think I have more wrinkles than many people my age, so it’s very frustrating.
@1214mom, have you tried a heavy duty chemical peel, like an alpha hydroxy one? It makes you a prisoner in your house for about five days, but it really seems to work.
My sister looks younger than me without cosmetic product because she has no kids. No stress. Same with my brother who has no kids. The brothers who have kids, in general, look like they are aging the same like everybody else. So in my family the ones without kids, don’t have half the worries. I think it’s one secret to not aging, don’t have kids.
My sister has 2 kids just like me and has much less stress than me.
Yeah, but those kids are going to make sure we’re taken care of, in our old age. If we make it that long. At least, that’s my hope!
@busdriver11, I haven’t tried anything like that. Is it something you do at home or go to Dr for? Retin A seemed to be going well for me, I didn’t even have the redness some people get. But at some point, my eyelids got very swollen, so doc said stop using everything and reintroduce one product at a time. I wasn’t perfect with advice, but each time retin a seemed to be the problem.
Haha, at least I’m hoping they would take care of us. I think my eyes are so bad now, I won’t worry about wrinkles. If I have wrinkles, I don’t see them.
That’s what’s been helping me, DrGoogle, as my wrinkles get worse, I keep losing my vision. So it’s not so bad!
@1214mom, definitely validate whatever I say, because I may not be getting it correct! But the chemical peels are something you absolutely do not do on your own. You go to a professional, either a dermatology clinic or a very good spa. They have high concentrations of the acid, and can do serious damage, so they need to know what they are doing. I’m sure there are many types of peels, but if you want something that works, you don’t want the low concentration stuff that requires a sequence of 5-10, one per month. That will have little peeling or down time, but it is too mild and takes forever to show results. For people who have more intense wrinkles, they want something more drastic. I think what I get is a fairly high concentration AHA peel, and it really peels. You must stay out of the sun, do not pick or it will leave scars, and it is briefly painful. For best results, she recommends, three, one per month. However, I’ve only gotten one, every six months to a year, and I really tell the difference. It is more expensive (about $200), but far better than the other option.
Does anyone know about other peels that are very strong? Like retinol peels? Perhaps it is more dependent upon the concentration.
Drum roll. …ok (for the sense of drama) this is a voiceover…I am going to take us all back to a time and place where there was nothing (except Charles of the Ritz moisturizer) and really pulled facelifts. There was no botox, fillers…nothing EXCEpT…an over the counter cream…kept the fridge on the door…colder there. all the mommies would use is around the lines because it shrank the skin. It was a cream and it worked…and it wa
was hemmorhoid cream.
I now remember you mentioned this before on CC. I wonder if anybody try it yet?
I am going to the drug store tomorrow. I am going to try and find it. I can’t tell how yucky it was to open the fridge and see the cream next to the milk and salami.
It should work pretty fast consider the natural of this cream.
I am surprised that no one has mentioned Fraxel. It is fabulous at getting rid of those pesky brown spots ( (some I got during my pregnancy days and they stayed, others from the sun and aging) wrinkles, and dull skin…awesome but not cheap results.
I also swear by botox now…just a little for the crows feet --or laugh lines as I prefer to call them-- around the eyes…
I didnt think it would really make much of a difference but it does!
