Lake Tahoe Skiing- suggestions needed

Yes. Let is snow now and not the days we are on the road.

Just came across this thread -and thought I’d throw my 4 cents in (even tho I haven’t read all of the posts)
We try to stay at Marriotts when possible; we met up with our daughter in Napa at the end of her winter break in early January (she had been “skiing” without much snow with the Ski Team at Tahoe) - was a bit wary of the Marriott Napa - but found it to be really quite nice. Concierge and front desk staff were fantastic - and sort of a homey feel to the place - and very reasonable.
We just came back from our 2nd stay at the JW Marriott on Post in Union Square - it hasn’t been a Marriott for all that long - and it is a great SF hotel - location, staff, rooms. Well priced for weekends.
Sounds like all of your alternatives are fine!

Look what Squaw just opened… a ski-thru STARBUCKS!

[Squaw Valley opens world’s first ski-in/ski-out Starbucks | SierraSun.com](http://www.sierrasun.com/article/20120210/COMMUNITY/120219991/1004)

I first thought it will be at the top of Granite Chief, that would be exciting. But at the Gold Coast? Meh…

^ Well… some of our “KT-22 days” are a distant memory and Gold Coast is now more to my liking and current ability!:)

Considering the total cost of hitting the slopes, this might be the only Starbucks that will appear proletarian. A true bargain!

Don’t say that yet, given the price on the mountain and $9/hamberger, you don’t know how much they are going to charge for coffee.

At least its not Heavenly where the food price is much highers.

Wow–even I could get up to Gold Coast. This sounds great!

^^You can get Starbuck in the Village, not too much scenary at the Gold Coast, better off take the Tram, if you are not skiing. At high camp, you have ice rink and swimming pool_hot tub.

I haven’t been to High Camp during the winter in a while, only during the summer. My daughter was quite disappointed that the bungee jump was gone by the time she turned 18.

I just sent her the link to the Starbucks article–her response was “OMG–best thing ever! Why didn’t I think of that”

ydnar…it appears my D is coaching your D. Small world. Is your D going to regionals at Mammoth this weekend with my D? I don’t know who your D is actually, but hey, our girls must know one another !

New snow this week!!

Great news!!!
(we need it badly here too)

^^ They have a BIG one outside the Grand Sierra Hotel, Reno

Thanks artlovers, I’ll let her know, although the view won’t quite be the same…

soozievt - no, she’s going to Tahoe this weekend. New Year’s was her first time skiing up there (she’s a freshman) She said that despite the extreme lack of snow - the coaching was really terrific. Hoping it wasn’t your D who broke her arm?

Where’s that link to the best weather forecaster and road conditions?

ydnar…actually, yes, that was my daughter! She fractured her wrist on the very first day coaching the team at Tahoe. Ironically, when she was home here in Vermont for a visit right before heading to coach at Tahoe, I was telling her how lucky she has been having skied her entire life since being a toddler and racing her whole life and to never have been injured. This was surely a bummer but she coached over the break on snowshoes and then once in a cast she coached on skis but wasn’t free skiing and now she is out of the cast and can ski (though she hasn’t missed much this year with skiing). She will get to ski some after the races at Mammoth this weekend. My D is first heading to Truckee this afternoon and told me that some of the kids on the college ski team (who are not going to Regionals at Mammoth) are being dropped off in Truckee and she is taking some other team racers in her car onto Mammoth. Obviously our daughters know one another even though I don’t know who your D is. I’ll mention to my daughter that I “met” a parent of a freshman girl on the team. She really likes the students on the team your D is on!
